Inspired by the Tango advertising campaign, where an orange man would come up behind victims and slap them round the head. In this case, the perpetrator would run up to their victim and shout 'TANGO!' and simultaneously, with their arms outstretched, slap both sides of the victims head as hard as possible. It is in this way that one would become 'tangoed'. This ad campaign caused immense outrage in the UK and the company were accused of encouraging people to damage each others hearing. The ad was changed, but too late. By then it was well and truly part of folk culture!
