A dynamic and expanding financial institution, regulated by the MFSA and based in Malta, is urgently seeking a Corporate Lawyer to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing legal protection to the business and managing the corporate and legal matters of several locally registered companies that are part of a larger organization.
This is a 100% office-based position offering a competitive salary of up to €55K, depending on experience. Please note that due to the urgency of this role, only candidates currently based in Malta will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Drafting and reviewing legal documents including agreements, company resolutions, and the Memorandum and Articles of Association
Filing statutory forms and company resolutions with the Registry of Companies in Malta
Supporting various companies by reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts, while advising management on the best course of action
Analyzing the legal implications of various issues across all companies and providing advice to management
Drafting and reviewing internal policies and procedures
Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and reviewing existing processes
Assisting in the implementation and upkeep of the bank’s compliance monitoring framework
Preparing internal reports and conducting gap analysis regarding the bank's compliance with new regulatory requirements
Education, Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
A Maltese warrant to practice law
Fluency in English at a C2 or native level
Fluency in Maltese (native level) is considered a plus
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Corporate Lawyer, specifically in Malta
Strong understanding of Maltese corporate law (experience in banking law is a significant advantage)
Excellent communication skills and a high level of articulation
About the Role
Competitive salary of up to €55K, based on experience
Office-based role in Sliema, Malta (Monday to Friday, hybrid options are not available)
Must be based in Malta with the right to work
