    Job Purpose This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic communications team at a time of transformation. As a Communications Officer, you will play a key role in delivering strategic campaigns, managing media relations, and supporting internal and external communications. You will be responsible for crafting engaging content, enhancing the organisation’s profile, and ensuring effective messaging across various platforms.

    Principal Accountabilities • Support the development and implementation of the organisation’s Communication Strategy.

    • Deliver high-impact campaigns and key messages for external and internal audiences, with a strong focus on digital communications.

    • Ensure brand consistency by maintaining corporate identity standards across all communications.

    • Translate complex information into clear, engaging, and accessible content.

    • Manage digital communications, including social media platforms, to engage audiences and promote key initiatives.

    • Handle media relations, including drafting press releases, organising press briefings, and responding to media enquiries.

    • Use research and audience insights to tailor messages effectively across multiple communication channels.

    • Develop and maintain performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and communication strategies.

    • Identify opportunities for income generation through sponsorships, partnerships, and promotional activities.

    • Stay informed on industry trends, policy changes, and emerging communication techniques to enhance the organisation’s outreach.

    • Provide crisis communication support and manage high-profile or emergency messaging.

    • Occasionally deputise for senior managers as required.

    Candidate Profile Essential Skills & Experience: • Proven ability to plan, execute, and evaluate marketing and communication strategies.

    • Strong project management and organisational skills.

    • Excellent writing and storytelling ability, with a keen eye for accuracy and consistency.

    • Experience in media liaison, PR, marketing, campaign development, or internal communications.

    • Proficiency in digital communication tools, including social media, email marketing, and content management systems.

    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships across different teams and stakeholders.

    • Ability to prioritise workload, manage multiple tasks under pressure, and meet deadlines.

    • Political awareness, discretion, and the ability to work sensitively within a complex organisational environment.

    Desirable Skills & Knowledge: • Familiarity with public sector communications or local government environments.

    • Knowledge of digital marketing techniques and trends, including audience engagement strategies.

    • Experience in project management.
