    Property Lawyer

    Service Care Legal are working alongside a South London Local Authority is seeking a qualified Property Lawyer (Solicitor or CILEx) with a minimum of 2 years' PQE to provide professional legal support to the Senior Property Lawyer. This is a key role within the council's legal services team, focused on providing cost-effective, high-quality property-related legal advice and supporting the advisory property and regeneration service.

    JOB: Property Lawyer (Qualified Solicitor or CILEx)

    LOCATION: South London

    RATE: £50.00 to £55.00 per hour LTD (DOE and interview performance)

    CONTRACT: 3 months (with possibility for extension)

    Please note office attendance would be 1 day per month (remote working available for the rest of the time)

    Key Responsibilities:

    Assist the Senior Property Lawyer in delivering property-related legal services to the council, including but not limited to acquisitions, disposals, leases, and regeneration projects.

    Provide timely and sound legal advice to internal clients, ensuring all property work is completed to high professional standards and meets the needs of the council.

    Support in the drafting and negotiation of property-related documents, contracts, and agreements, ensuring they align with the council’s objectives and legal requirements.

    Advise on property law issues affecting local government, including the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, case law, and guidance.

    Liaise with internal stakeholders, external parties, and other legal teams as required to ensure smooth and effective property transactions.

    Assist with the development and maintenance of legal strategies related to property and regeneration projects.

    Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and council policies when providing legal advice or drafting documentation. Essential Criteria:

    Qualified Solicitor or CILEx with at least 2 years’ PQE in property law.

    Previous public sector legal experience would be essential for this role.

    Strong experience in handling property transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, leases, and regeneration work.
