ECT Teacher - Alternative Provision
We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated ECT Teachers with a background in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or experience in supporting children with SEN within mainstream education.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ECT Teacher who is looking to make a difference by working with small groups of KS3 and KS4 pupils. The Alternative Provison in Barnoldswick will put the successful candidate through their ECT years.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with children with SEN, providing tailored support to meet their individual needs.
Collaborate closely with class teachers and teaching assistants to promote effective learning strategies.
Assess the needs of children, attend review meetings, and contribute to creating appropriate learning plans.
Liaise with parents, families, and other stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
The Ideal Candidate will have experience in the following areas:
Experience in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social Communication Needs: Experience supporting children with ASC, using communication strategies such as social stories, visual timetables, and targeted interventions to support social interaction and communication skills.
Cognition and Learning: Proven experience in developing and delivering interventions for children with learning difficulties, including supporting children with dyslexia, ADHD, and other cognitive challenges. Familiarity with differentiated instruction and scaffolding techniques.
Physical/Medical/Sensory Needs: Knowledge of supporting children with physical disabilities, medical conditions, or sensory needs. Experience in adapting the classroom environment to accommodate mobility aids, sensory breaks, and individual health care plans.
Trauma Informed: They should be able to identify early signs of distress or triggers, such as changes in behaviour, heightened anxiety, or withdrawal, and respond with appropriate de-escalation strategies.
