Feedlot/Farm Equipment Operator

Stronks Feedlot, in Picture Butte, AB is hiring team-oriented, and energetic individual who enjoys working outdoors, operating equipment, and hands-on maintenance. This full-time, year-round offers a mix of heavy equipment operation and feedlot maintenance in a fast-paced agricultural setting. Longer hours, including weekends, are required during the growing and harvesting seasons.

Applicants MUST be legally eligible to work in Canada (Permanent Resident, Canadian Citizen, or Open Work Permit).

What you will be doing:

• Operating a variety of equipment, including loaders and excavators, to support daily feedlot operations. From manure hauling and bedding cattle in the winter.

• Perform routine maintenance like greasing, washing and servicing machinery to ensure everything runs smoothly.

• Maintain cleanliness in the wash bay and shop, keeping the work environment organized and efficient.

• Feedlot fixes – tackle maintenance and repair projects, including feed mills, pens, waterers and gates.

• Enjoy an even split between operating equipment and hands-on repair/maintenance work.

• Field & Equipment operations. Perform spring tillage, operate harvest equipment (silaging, combining), handle grain storage and transport, work with farm machinery (sprayers, 4WD tractors, grain carts), and maintain grain storage facilities.

What you bring to the table:

• Heavy equipment skills – Experience with loaders, excavators, and other machinery.

• Problem solving mindset – ability to think on your feet and tackle challenges with attention to detail.

• Strong communication – Interpersonal skills to work with the team and communicate effectively via in-person, email, and text.

• Safety & Precision – comfortable working at heights and following safety protocols

• Basic mathematical abilities.

• Valid class 3 driver’s license or preferably Class 1

Bonus Skills that will set you apart:

• Agriculture experience – A background in farming or feedlot work is a huge plus!

• Welding skills – If you can weld, even better!
