HARRIS TWEED

Harris Tweed is London Cockney rhyming slang for a small, ineffectual man (weed).

The other definition listed is only partial. It can mean "huh?", but it is not terrible common. We usually just say "huh?" in Canada. "Eh?" is a word you add to the end of a sentence, to ask for a response of agreement or disagreement, similar in meaning to "don't you think?" ex. "Looks like a storm comin' in, eh?" It is also sometimes used with "I know", and in that case it doesn't really mean anything. -"Wow, the Flames really kicked ass tonite!" -"I know, eh?" Good luck trying to use it properly if you're not Canadian. Trust me Americans, we can tell the difference! You're not foolin' anybody :)

In the days when tots of rum were issued, it was commonplace for sailors to pledge a portion of their rum ration to another shipmate, possibly to settle a debt. The donor would indicate how much he was allowing the other to take with one of the following phrases: "Sippers" - Take a Sip. "Gulpers" - Take a Gulp. "Sandy Bottoms" - Drink it all.

Used to a freind to indicate they'd done something a bit stupid. Pronounced in slow-mo as if talking to someone a bit thick. Generally it's quite an affectionate term. Apparantly Germans use the name "Jurgen" to identical effect.
