The whale watching is starting to really pick up in Monterey Bay. More and more whales seem to be returning to join in on the massive feeding frenzy that had eluded the bay the for most of the year. It’s nice to finally see more of these hungry giants return!
Just smile and wave 🐳💙🐋
I've lost month due to illness. But finally I'm ok and come back to work.
I'm very sorry I haven't been able to reply messages. Today I've started answering messages. But it will need a few days to reply to everyone.
Now I have a few new whales. And tomorrow will start Giveaway with one of them.
Other whales soon will be available for adoption in my shop. About the date and time of the update a bit later.
And about Custom orders. I'm planning to reopen commissions again August 1. More info about that will be in the posts in the final week in July.
Well, that is the end of the news😊
"It was April 2017 the first time I ever flew a drone over a whale. A little more than two years later, and I can’t believe some of the things I’ve seen unfold on my screen. I remember when drones were just beginning to be adopted in the whale watching industry, and the power these spectacular new images contained was overwhelming. For the first time, we could see things that never would have been possible in the past, like this Humpback Whale pirouetting through a huge bait ball in glassy, sunlit-blue seas. This is the way I want people to crave wildlife. With the power of social media, we now have the ability to share these images with everyone across the world, including those that don’t have the daily access to the ocean that I am so fortunate to have. It’s my hope that the people who see these amazing creatures through my photography, feel the same things I did when I was taking in the work of other incredible ocean advocates. That feeling made me care more about these animals than I ever thought was possible. The more people that care, the better chance we have at making sure generations to come will live in a world where marine life thrives" 🐋

It’s been really cool the see the same individual humpbacks around the area so consistently! This one here is MMX0079 or “Pantera” heading down for a short dive while feeding over Constance Bank.
In the feeding grounds, Humpbacks really aren’t considered to be that social, focusing most of their energy on eating as much as possible. At most, we usually see pairs traveling together temporarily. However, as the feeding season goes on, I think they start freeing up a bit more time to hang out, as we see these large congregations of Humpbacks swarming around food sources and seemingly interacting with each other. I always wonder how Humpbacks recognize each other. Do they use the same unique markings on the underside of the tail that we do? How much of a sense of an individual do they get? We do see certain individuals tending to pair up, so they must have some sense of preference. It’s incredible to think of these gentle giants having a whole community beneath the waves!
| Wild Orcas | Last week I joined @tofinowhalecentre for a whale tour and we spotted a pod of wild orcas. This experience was one of the best wildlife encounters I have ever had. The Orcas were jumping out of the water, slapping their tails and spy-hopping. It was just magical. •
My decision to move to Tofino was very spontaneous but I am so glad that I followed my heart to this beautiful, ocean side town. I’m so excited to see where this summer leads. ✌️
It's been a lunge fest over here! If you look closely you can see some anchovies flying through the air while this humpback feeds.
These humpbacks are getting their fresh water from the fish that they eat, but they can also drink seawater. Seawater is three times saltier than blood, so to drink salt water they have to process a lot of extra salt. They have specialized kidneys to do just that!
Mammalian kidneys filter the blood plasma. After filtering out larger molecules and blood cells, the plasma goes to a tube called the loop of Henle where the water is reabsorbed. Then the remaining fluid is concentrated and excreted.
We know that porpoises and manatees have a longer loop of Henle than terrestrial mammals, which would allow them to reabsorb more of the water. But we aren't sure if this is how all marine mammals do it! There's still a lot we don't know about the way marine mammals survive in their environment.

The medicine of The Whale guided our group Embody journey on Monday night’s activation and I’m only just noticing now how many whales surround me at home 👉....and have probably been guiding me for a very long time....
To meet the Whale in our meditation, we swam into the deep waters of the ocean which was infused with the starry, cosmic light of the universe. ✨ 2 polarities merging as one 🌊✨ (water: the source of all life and cosmic frequency: feels like the source of all possibility)
The medicine of the whale gifts us the wisdom of the ocean and the early light codes of the earth. 🌍
Her song brings you back into your own sacred song and activates a divine feminine + masculine template in your DNA
Her eye was a potent medicine in the meditation. 👁 For me her energy is still integrating into my cells but I can feel her steering me to make a lot of change in my life this week. 🐳🙏💠 seems to be flowing quite nicely too 💙
🎨 found on Etsy 🐳
I’ll be releasing the dates in a few days for the next group Embody journey too 🙏💠🌀holla if you want me to get in touch personally 💙💙
