wellness ⁣CHICKPEA “TUNA” SALAD ⁣
this is the peeeerfect sandwich/wrap filling! Or even a salad topper!⁣

This obviously doesn’t replace real tuna but the texture is super similar and is a great vegan protein option!⁣
⁣
RECIPE (this was for about 1.5 servings for me)⁣
•1/2 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed ⁣
•1/4 avocado in replace of mayo⁣
•1/2 tbsp Dijon mustard⁣
•juice of 1/2 lemon ⁣
•salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste ⁣
•chopped green onions ⁣
•can add in celery/carrots⁣
Mash well in a bowl until no whole chickpeas left!⁣
⁣
Taste and adjust flavour accordingly!⁣
⁣
I added this to a sandwich between @foodforlifebaking Ezekiel bread, @humbleseedz original vegan cream cheese, spinach and sliced tomato. ⁣

wellness reflecting on your bloat & journey... i remember sharing this picture for the first time like it was yesterday. i had been suffering with  e x t r e m e  bloating for months on end and this was my first time opening up about it to you all. my hands were shaking as i typed & my stomach dropped as i posted. how strange to feel terrified to share something that is apart of your journey, ya know?

but i think many of us have felt this. that fear to tell others what is going on. your parents. your friends. your partner. your boss. your date. whoever it is. and yet most of the time, just like how it was for me posting this, you are met with nothing but love and acceptance. it’s not always in a “perfect” way but in a way that lets you know they are there for you.

as i was filming my bloating q & a for youtube this weekend (link in bio) i was struck by something that came up when i was reflecting about bloating & my journey. 
i was struck by the POWER of speaking your truth about it.

it was the first time i realized how much my life changed when i stopped hiding my “problems”. my bloated stomach, the intense pain i was dealing with, my fear of eating foods because i didn’t want to upset my gut. didn’t want to do anything “wrong”. basically, when i stopped hiding i started healing.

now this doesn’t mean you have to create an instagram and youtube and share about your bloat to the world. it means being honest and looking at your life and seeing how hiding your bloating or your journey is making you and your body feel. 
because in truth, we simply cannot go through this alone. it’s tiring. it’s confusing. it’s emotional. not everyone will understand completely because not everyone goes through this. but, sometimes them just KNOWING is enough. them just TRYING is enough. them just BEING there. 
lifestyle changes, supplements, figuring out your sensitivities, exercises, etc. are great but what i realized is... we forget how much holding stuff in effects us and we underestimate what the support of others can do. 
i know because that was me. and i feel grateful everyday that all of you have helped me get from where i was then to where i am now. ♡

wellness Vitamin D is fundamental for healthy bones, muscles, mood and overall wellbeing. It is particularly important in maintaining calcium levels in the body as calcium absorption is reliant upon sufficient activated vitamin D levels.

A deficiency in Vitamin D can result in:
* Bone and joint pain
* Osteoporosis
* Increased risk of falls and bone
fractures
* Fatigue, mood imbalance and depression

Vitamin D also plays a key role in immune function, and deficiency is associated with an increased risk of infection.

Where does Vitamin D come from?
Most of our vitamin D is synthesized naturally in our skin, when exposed to Ultraviolet B light from the sun.  This form of vitamin D is then converted into its active form through processes involving the liver and kidneys.

Given that most vitamin D production occurs from exposure to sunlight, it is no surprise that during the winter months, approximately 30% of Victorians (Australia) are vitamin D deficient. As a consequence of home isolation, rates of Vitamin D deficiency may in fact be higher this year.

Safe ways to increase vitamin D levels:
1. Adopt a balanced approach to sun exposure – UVB radiation from the sun is the best natural source of vitamin D synthesis, but be mindful of the risk of skin cancer. During the summer months, spending a few minutes outdoors each day will maintain adequate vitamin D levels. During late autumn and winter, it is advisable to spend 15 minutes outdoors in the middle of the day with a exposing a small amount of skin.
2. Exercise daily. Regular exercise assists with the production of vitamin D
3. Eat foods rich in vitamin D and high in calcium.
4. If required, there are a variety of vitamin D supplements available that your doctor may recommend.

wellness Wild Rice Crusted White Fish, with sides Spinach and Rice – Spanakorizo and Roasted Hasselback Beets with Dill Dressing. 
The crust on this fish kept the entire fillet moist and flaky as well giving it a unique crisp texture.
Hasselback beets were an easy side dish to prepare as well would be great served warm or cold on a warm night. 
The rice was soft and creamy, and along with plenty of lemon juice, a bit of olive oil and of course feta, it was delicious.

Mental Health is greatly impacted by the food that we eat. Choose healthier options coupled with exercise for optimum mental and physical health. Eating healthy doesn't mean you cannot enjoy yummy food. Sharing a quick and easy breakfast recipe you can toss up using ingredients you may have around the kitchen.

Vegetarian Breakfast Fritters:
1/4 cup wholemeal flour, 1/3 cup grated cheese, 1/4 tsp salt, chilli as you wish, 2 large eggs whisked, 2 cups grated carrots, 2 cups one other vege (we used spinach but you can use eggplant or grate the stem of broccholi too), 1tblsp diced onion.

Gently boil up the vegetables for a few mins only (you don't want to boil/cook out their nutritional value), drain and pat dry.

Combine all of the above ingredients and make balls, then place the balls into medium to hot oil, flatten with a spatula as you do so.

I really like exercising my body but I don’t forget about my spirit. •
Before motherhood I could spend uninterrupted hours reading and studying the Bible. That isn’t possible now unless I wake up early or go to bed late. I love the Bible App! It has so many devotionals and I can listen to the Bible as I clean up, give my kids a bath, or while I’m going to sleep.

If you would love to get more time in the Word of God check out the Bible app. Listen to any translation as you ride in the car. I personally like playing the Bible in the background as my children play and I do some adulting.

Mas um estudo divulgado pelo Observatório do Clima na última semana aponta que em meio a pandemia, o Brasil contraria a tendência mundial de baixa nas emissões de gás carbônico em 2020.

A expectativa é de que a recessão causada pela pandemia de Covid-19 leve a uma queda de 6% na emissão destes gases no planeta neste ano. Mas as emissões de gases de efeito estufa devem subir entre 10% e 20% no Brasil em comparação com 2018, último ano de dados disponíveis.

Sabemos que não é apenas isso que influência a pesquisa, já que existem a frota de veículos que rodam diariamente, a pecuária e indústrias, porém a razão para que o Brasil contrarie a tendência mundial é o forte aumento no desmatamento da Amazônia, segundo a nota técnica do Sistema de Estimativas de Emissão de Gases de Efeito Estufa (SEEG) do Observatório do Clima divulgada na última quinta-feira, dia 21.

1 pkg firm tofu
1/3 c soy sauce
1/3 c rice vinegar
1 Tbsp fish sauce (vegetarians omit)
2 tsp minced garlic
2 tsp minced ginger
2 tsp honey
1 tsp sesame oil
2-3 Tbsp sambal or to taste!

Cut tofu into 1” planks. Mix all other ingredients together. Place tofu in marinade and refrigerate for at least 3 hours (5+ is best!), turning tofu at least once.
Bake at 450* F for 25-30 minutes or until brown, flipping midway through. Enjoy 👅

wellness happy Wednesday even though it feels like Tuesday to me for some reason ✨ it’s my nephews first birthday today, i have no idea where time has gone but I’m super excited to spend my day with him and my sister! Today’s breakfast #dEATS 👋🏻
1/2 cup rolled oats @quaker 
1 cup @almondbreeze vanilla almond milk unsweetened 
1/2 tsp cinnamon 
1 tbsp chia seeds 
1 scoop peanut butter 
1 banana 
Handful berries 
Bring milk to a boil and add oats. Reduce to medium heat and stir occasionally for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. I let my sit for 1-2 minutes. During that time microwave peanut butter for 30 seconds. Add oats to a bowl and add all ingredients. I sprinkled more cinnamon on top. For some reason i LOVE the blueberry and peanut butter combo. Maybe because blueberries are my fav fruit and i love peanut butter who knows but it’s super good🙌🏻✨🙊 Also my nail color is amazing I’m obsessed! All blue 💙
