🔥Well isn’t that the truth?! Beginning is always the hardest. The first round of any work out is the worst. By the end it’s hard, but you know you’re almost done so you can kick up your gears because you can see the finish. But that first one? The only thing you can think of is how many more you have to go. Especially if it’s early in the morning. It’s true with the beginning of anything. It’s hopeful, exciting for sure, but those first days, first steps can be daunting. So go out today and crush this day! Get inspired to start something new. And grind out that first round 🔥

WOW! It has been crazy busy these past few months 😅
Unfortunately I was sick the whole time in Las Vegas at Midyear! Better luck next time 🙃 Voice was completely toasted too! But still had a great time! I found it very beneficial talking to all the residents at different programs! Now the hard part ... deciding on where to apply 🤯
I got back from Vegas Wednesday, went and shadowed in the ED at VCU on Thursday (I LOVED IT 😃😃), finished up the last day of my block 6 rotation in the NSICU yesterday & then worked at Rite Aid today 👏🏼 So, apologies for being a little MIA! I am officially on winter break now though, so I should have more time to fitness while I get all my residency applications together and sent off 🤓

1️⃣ 3x10 neutral grip rows
2️⃣ 3x10 reverse grip pulldowns
3️⃣ 3x10 rope pulldowns
4️⃣ 3x10 lat pulldowns
5️⃣ one set of pullups *PLZ i know my form is not the best, BUT i wanted to include these anyways because this was taken a year ago and this was my first time just GOING FOR IT with pull ups and i surprised myself. this was also AFTER my workout *hence the sandals* 😂 you never know what you’re capable of if you don’t try! 💓

Sitting here in this cafe with some old chums I Get to reflect. In life on the one hand, you will meet a lot of two faced weasels on the one hand and spineless cowardly curs on the other. They are merely people that are so unaware of themselves or who are completely consumed by the illusions around them. It is a wonder how such people can look at themselves in the mirror in the morning. But when I wake up to the news and the disastrous election result in my home country of the UK, I have come to the conclusion that these canine creatures I sit with are more enlightened than the human species.
Im sure many will be able to relate to what I have to say next. When things have been tough I have had my practice and that has been both external concerning the body, but also internal, controlling and mastering ones emotional states and awareness. It has been a matter of combining the two and developing a practice that helps one thrive and survive in a world and a system that is constantly at war with the human spirit. So doing martial arts, calisthenics workouts, lifting weights, swinging kettlebells, practising yoga, sufism, breathe work, taking part in shamanic rituals, magick rituals, using plants.....it’s all been a kind of alchemy for me......a primal alchemy....one that not only concerns the physical body but your entire being. I feel it’s beyond fitness or movement.

Day 32: BACK & BICEPS 💪🏼
• standing dumbbell curls 3x10
• reverse flyes 3x10
• 2 armed bent over row 3x10
• hammer curls 3x10
• one arm dumbbell row 3x10
• Swiss ball back extension. 3x10
• lat cable pull down 3x10
I was able to start upping my weight with most these exercises! I love feeling progress and continuing to challenge myself 🏋🏽♀️ Feels good going two days in a row! Going in the morning made me feel prepared for the day, but there’s just something about wrapping my day up at the gym... what time do you guys prefer to go?
Just a week till I’m on vacation I can’t wait!! Gonna keep it up though while I’m gone!

I had the pleasure of coaching these guys yesterday 😊
A fantastic day was had by all!
Multiple Australian records and Personal bests were achieved.
Ann had a great day with 88/52/131 kg and Australian Record total.
Cris pushed out her own Australian record total by 6kg with best lifts of 108/62/146kg.
Hol put together a great performance going 93/55/140kg. Cracking that 140kg deadlift after a few attempts 👍
Lenka achieving her goal of a 300kg total at under 58kg. She has come down from the 64kg class and had an impressive day on the platform with 107/59/134kg.
Ian fired up for a couple of great PBS . As always bringing some awesome enthusiasm to the platform going 100/67/128kg.

I am beyond proud of my performance today. I managed to #snatch 1kg below my best all time snatch, #cleanandjerk 2kg above my best, come out with a massive 22kg improvement towards my best competition total, and place 4th overall for the men! I'm beyond thankful for the support of my friends at @rawwbarbell and especially my coach Tim @rawwlings for making this challenging sport fun. ·

Part of today’s workout.
•Sumo squats, get them hips skrong. And makes it better to teabag your enemies. .
•Dumbbell squats into an overhead press. I use plates under my heels to go deeper and everyone likes it deeper. .
•And then a calf variation that is one of the few exercises I feel in them. This uploaded wrong so what it’s me leaning forward with one knee bent and the other extended behind me. I’m pushing off with the single calf that is behind me with my body at about a 45 degree slant.
How could I not be inspired, watching this breathtaking lift by Daniela Ghermanswe (clean & jerk 115kg/215lbs) at the 2019 Sweden v. Finland weightlifting competition. This lift established a new Swedish record in the women's 64kg class. WOW!! Often, as I train, I look across, awed at the mindboggling weights this 60kg girl tosses into the air as if it’s only frisbees. Yeah, I am impressed & inspired. Today was meet day! I was so wrapped up in things I didn't even snag a picture 😭
That said, I got this HUGE trophy for placing 1st in my weight class (out of 1 lifter 🤣).
Seriously, though, today was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 @_kushakova surprised me and showed up when I thought she couldn't make it, and her support/help/being there definitely facilitated my stellar day. She is seriously the #bestcoach and I can't even express my gratitude to her in a post like this.
Walked away with PRs in 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨. Went 5/6 with my only miss being on a lifetime PR attempt clean and jerk. I am extremely thankful for today, and for my coach!

Other cool things from today:
◾It was the 2nd time an Olympian has judged my lifts (@gordongump today & @roblympian at an @rwlweightlifting meet a while back). I have met and been judged by 2 Olympians, y'all (and passed with good lifts 🎉).
◾It was my 2nd time meeting the legendary coach Denis Reno, who called the meet today.
◾This giant trophy is a hand-me-down. New England record-holder Curt Cardine donated trophies for this meet from his ample collection, so this bad boy is vintage!
