TRAVELING IS FREEDOM
Having the opportunity to wake up and deciding what you want to do, that's traveling. When you feel you want to go on a hike, do it! when you feel to be lazy on the beach, enjoy it! No matter if it's a short vacation or a long-term trip, this freedom and flexibility makes you happy.
July 15th, 2018, day 55: It was Sunday morning in Athens and Philip and I had to figure out what we were going to do for the next week while his mom was gone. Our Airbnb came stocked with food for breakfast, so we sat around in our underwear (Greece in July is so much warmer than Latvia!) and researched things we should do and see.
We decided that exploring our neighborhood and finding out where to get food, and more importantly, Fanta Orange soda, would be our priority that day. We walked through quite a large nearby park that we were later warned not to go into after dark. .
We found cats (so many cats!), more graffiti (so much graffiti!), the best Turkish food I've ever had, some delicious Greek pastries, tons of political posters, and street upon street of 3 and 4 story sand-colored apartment buildings with plants and clothing hanging off of balconies with tiny cars whizzing by.
It was exotic, unfamiliar, and so alive. I knew this was a place I wanted to be.
