When I look at this picture I am overcome with emotions because I am so damn proud of the woman I have become in the last year.
A year ago I was in the darkest of places & my mental & physical health was crumbling. I didn’t get a job in the district I wanted, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, one of my childhood best friends tragically passed away, my uncle passed away suddenly right before Christmas, and my classroom was being evacuated daily. I was lost & broken but the world doesn’t stop spinning when you’re hurting—so I did something about it.
I re-applied for that district, nailed my interview, & I am thriving & loving every second at my new school. My mom is now cancer free & full of life. I found a therapist who helps me work through my tragic losses & who fills me with a sense of hope & belonging. I have a class that is loving & kindhearted and I am so stinking grateful that I can’t wait to wake up each day & see them.
I share this because this time last year I thought I would never make it through the school year & things would be miserable forever—but friends, it’s not. & I wish so much I could squeeze each of you & remind you of your worth to this world even on your most difficult of days. You have a place in this world & what you do matters. So whether it’s a difficult school year, a personal loss, a job that hasn’t happened yet—I believe in you & I am cheering you on. You’ve got this, love. 💛

Ⓣⓔⓐⓒⓗⓘⓝⓖ ~ ~ it sure has changed over the years. Truth - it’s still rewarding and such a blessing! I love building relationships with kids and learning from them. Has the profession changed?!? 🤷🏻♀️ Umm yesss!!! The fact that public schools at least in my area have now hired more social workers and behavior interventionists to step alongside kids to help them along says a lot. Our workload has changed in the 26 years I’ve been in education. 👏🏻🙌🏼👏🏻🙌🏼👏🏻🙌🏼#preachit Sometimes we need to laugh - sometimes we need to step back - sometimes we need to reach out to a teacher bestie - sometimes we need a spa day or glass of wine at night. But keep doing what you’re doing my friends. It’s ok that you want another week of break - it’s okay that you get overwhelmed and burn out every so often. Those feelings don’t make you a bad teacher. Don’t give up - those kiddos need you now more than ever. ♥️♥️♥️♥️ #motivation#smonday#sundayblues#teachertruth#selfcare#teacherhumor#teachingandmuchmoore#teacherhack#iteachk#iteachsecond#iteachfirst#iteachprek#tiredteacher
Recently called into Granger 8th Primary Presidency as Secretary. What better way to start this calling, then our Stake Po Hiva Tonight. On behalf of our presidency we would like to thank our teachers for helping the children, Tohi and her girls on the music, and the primary children for singing so beautifully. I am so blessed with the best!! We love you all ❤️❤️❤️ #primary#secretary#happy#blessed
