Durante il weekend cerco di stare a contatto con la natura.. almeno un giorno alla settimana... che sia la montagna, il mare o un parco, basta poco per sentire come cambia tutto 😍
Ormai è una cosa nota.. gli ambienti naturali contribuiscono a ridurre lo stress, migliorare l umore, aumentare la creatività e migliorare l’autostima...
La parte dello stress è ancora più vera se vivi a Milano nel periodo natalizio 😂 O sbaglio?

It's so common to think that we have to worry constantly about something in order to do it right. It is almost second nature to assume that if we are anxious and fearful, we will be scared into behaving the right way.⠀

Seat belts on guys, this is a deep one!!! OK so about this time of year I get a wee bit deep and reflective. 2019 has been a year of excitement and one of massive loss. I qualified as a yoga teacher (yay) but am too wuss at the moment to teach it, I've met some bloody lovely people this year, my amazing husband needed a bigger space to deliver therapy and help people improve their health and mobility and he's done it and I lost my dear friend to that bastard disease Cancer and boy did that girl give Mr C some shit. So I find myself in a place of excitement, fear, gratitude and loss, a bit like having constipation and the shits at the same time! So what will 2020 bring when 2019 has had some big shifts? Tbh I don't know but I'm open to whatever the universe has to teach me, but one thing I really want to focus on is not getting in my own way with fear of failure (or success.... Go figure?!) or worry of others' criticism or attempted sabotage (including my own self). I procrastinate a fair bit and no time will ever be perfect for anything you just have to do it, or so I'm told. I'm blessed with amazing friends and family and a husband who is literally the nicest guy you could ever meet (lol and he puts up with a lot!) . Being home with my big/ little brother gives me a whole new level of happiness and gratitude.
But seriously, let’s talk about long distance relationships.
I am one with my brother, My best friend, my cousin, the friend I met in a bar, at work, at that party when I was 17... theres no one ‘significant other’ in a long distance relationship, for me, it’s with all of my family and friends.
When you move country or city, you make a decision to leave the comfort of your life full of incredible people who have made you who you are.
For me, this has to be one of the biggest challenges when it comes to the home I’ve built in London. Think about all the moments, days, and memories you want to share with them.
I hate to say it, but that just doesn’t get much easier.
the reality is that FaceTime is just a screen, and a memory to you will just a story to them.
What you do start to develop is resilience to a lot of external emotions, and a thick skin when it comes to dealing with being alone. You also find out a lot about yourself (but that’s another story). What you also grow is a powerful mindset that goodbyes AREN’T ACTUALLY forever, making moments like this are a whole lot sweeter.
Some of the people in your life are irreplaceable. And even though it may be years without them, just know that when you do see them again, it is as though time never even passed.
I am so content being home. And though it’s only for a short few weeks, I am grateful for every second of every minute that I will have to share with my family and friends.
Then you better all be coming to London to visit 😉

This evening I am feeling grateful for the endless cuddles Yousef gives me - sometimes your child can cuddle you and you know you needed that cuddle way more than they needed it. I am thankful for my lay in this morning - thank you Yousef. I am thankful for the rain that made todays walk beautiful. I am thankful for pennies so I can buy my favourite coffee. I am so thankful we live in a world where you’re able to record & save your memories so you can look back on them. I am so thankful I can enjoy the free & small pleasures in life.
There’s a hundred things we can moan about but a million more things to be thankful for. Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life - it turns what we have into enough & more.
Sometimes we all need to slow down, not book anything and see how the day takes you. Christmas can get hectic with juggling children, work, school, presents and family. This weekend we all pressed the pause button in our house and just enjoyed spending time together, not doing much and being thankful for what we have. It’s not all about being busy. Best weekend in a long time.
For me, I’ve had to grieve the loss of friendships. Growing up unable to hangout a lot because of parents’ rules and then my inability to get out of bed most days, I missed out on a lot of socializing. And today it still sucks seeing all the friends I was once close with, still close and hanging out together, without me.
But I’ve also learned that this time in my life is the perfect opportunity to reconnect and find the people I vibe with and who align with my values/needs/wants/etc.

As we get older, like 30+, we can start to experience brain fog. This fog can also come on when we are burned out, overwhelmed or stressed.
It can manifest as forgetting stuff, finding it difficult to focus, poor thought patterns, negative self-talk and being rubbish at tv quiz shows.
Want to sort it out?
Ready for an action plan? I’ve got you.
1: eat your fruits and veggies. We need all the vitamins and fibre. If you’re not pooping regularly, your body isn’t working properly and brain fog can occur.
2: eat fats. Not just butter on your toast. Think fish oil + olive oil. Fake fats like trans fats fuck you right up. Don’t eat them.
3: talk to other people you can actually touch. Not just online. Our primitive brain needs this interaction. So give it what it needs.
4: reduce caffeine. I like the liquid of life as much as the next person. But caffeine can dehydrate and turns off the hormone production that says “go to sleep”. Booze does this too. So steer clear after midday and drink all the water to wash those chemicals out.

Vegan "tuna" sandwich! This is so easy to make it's crazy. Just use a fork to crush some chickpeas in a bowl, then mix in some vegenaise, salt, and pepper. I didn't add anything else when I made this, but you could also add a little lemon juice and/or minced onion if you want. (I didn't have a lemon or an onion already cut open at the time and it was a midnight snack so I was feeling lazy.) .
I've heard of using crushed garbanzo beans to simulate tuna many times before and never tried it until now. I was seriously surprised at how good it was!! .
Best of all, I don't have the blood on my hands of any tuna fish, other fish, dolphins, tortoises, sea turtles, sharks, or any other ocean life regularly caught in the nets of ocean trawlers.

We were sent this video earlier today, and told that the elephant is possibly being captured to be sold into captivity. Kerala has over 600 captive elephants, the vast majority males.
It is reported that these animals are shackled, tortured, beaten, or starved on a daily basis. Between 2012 and 2015, 175 elephants died with this year eight having perished, including a temple elephant named Keshavankutty.
Efforts need to be taken to increase education in regions like this in order to protect and stop such activity. One of the many great organizations out there working to protect them is @saveelephantfoundation. They run a large elephant sanctuary, and the work they are doing is utterly amazing.
