Here’s a nice gillshot of a mushroom known by the names late fall oyster, olive oysterling, or mukitake. This species is not a true oyster mushroom (genus pleurotus), but has been given these names due to its similar appearance. For more photos and information on how to find, identify, and enjoy this edible mushroom, follow @mushrooms_and_fish and come back later today to check out my next post, which will examine this species more closely!
I’ll continue highlighting a wide variety of interesting fall mushrooms over the next week or two as we transition from fall to winter. Hope you all enjoy! Mush love! 🍄😍
