TO ALL PREGNANT MOTHERS:
Many of you ask me questions about stretch marks, pregnancy diet, excercise, how to stay calm, how long to work for etc. But let me tell you, none of these things matter. If there is ONE advice I can give to to-be mothers, it is to wait for labour to start naturally. I'm speaking my heart out when I say that if labour does not start naturally, it only means that your body and the baby, both are not ready yet. The last few weeks are crucial for the baby's growth. The brain, the lungs and the liver development is crucial during last few weeks. And the amount a baby grows inside the womb, it will not grow outside. In my personal experience, there is a WORLD of difference between an induced labour and a baby born out of natural labour. Unless of course there is a medical reason why intervention is needed.
So mothers, while the last few weeks are oh so uncomfortable, trust me, keep your baby in for as long as you can, since there is no safer place for a baby than a mother's womb.
P.S. My thoughts are based on my own experience. Please use your own discretion.
Sun, shorts amd socialism. A perfect day for reading the latest issue of @tribuneuk, featuring a great article by Laura Townsend reminding us that our new Prime Minister is a 'careerist whose hypocrisy knows few bounds'; whose 'hatred for working-class people runs deep'; and who 'epitomises everything the nasty party stands for'. Don't be fooled by his buffoonery. Organise, educate, and join @uklabour! If we do, he won't be PM for long
🤰🏼💜🏝 Rolling ocean waves lapping on the shore...
It may be a cliche, but how wonderful is that sound?
Peaceful, hypnotic, calming and soothing.
In hypnobirthing we learn tools that utilise ALL the senses to create a relaxed environment to birth your baby.
Sounds, smells, visuals, feelings... spend time imagining your favourite place. A place you feel happy and safe.
For many, it is a beach, as that relaxed holiday feeling is hard to beat!
For me, the perfect place to imagine and re-visit during labour was lying by the water’s edge, listening to each wave coming.... and going.... Each wave representing a surge, and each wave bringing my baby closer to me.
As part of the course materials you will receive SEVEN fantastic MP3s, one of which is called “Ocean Relaxation”. Listening to this track, letting your imagination paint the full picture of your own favourite beach scene, adding in the smells and how your body feels in this special environment can relax your body so deeply, each surge is experienced with such calm.
Well, oxytocin is a key reason. Oxytocin is the body’s love hormone and is released when we are happy and at ease.
Another important factor is the mind to body connection! A calm and relaxed mind leads to a calm and relaxed body. And a calm and relaxed body is what calmly births a baby.
If you’d like to know more about this, and the other amazing birth prep tools that you will learn in my hypnobirthing classes, please drop me a DM or give me a call ☀️
When thinking of labour you usually hear some When thinking of labour you usually hear women say they were in labour for 3-4 days some even say weeks .
Active labour is only counted from 4cm dilated , 0-3cm is known as early labour/latent phase and this can be a long time for some women .
Second stage is counted from 10cm dilated to active pushing until baby is delivered . Pushing can take a long time and if baby and mum are coping 2/2.5 hours can be left for a first time mum to actively push.
3rd stage is the time of baby being delivered to placenta being delivered- some choose to have an active third stage which means they will be given an hormonal injection to help deliver the placenta more quickly; while others opt for physiological meaning allowing the body to expel the placenta in its time.
4th stage is the monitoring of blood loss and recovery of mum for 1-4 hours post delivery of the baby and placenta
Which stage did you find the hardest ?

T I P S for Breech Babies..
Babies can be nestled in the breech position for a number of reasons and they can be known to change position all the way up until labour begins! Often the word 'breech' becomes something we fear however, practise of relaxation is key and the use of our parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) is paramount.
During the five week HypnoBirthing course we discuss ways to help assist baby to nestle into occiput posterior (head down) position. Keeping in mind not all babies will turn and it is possible to birth in breech which is dependant on your health status and the status of your babies.
One of the methods that can be used is Hypnotherapy! Studies have been done and proven to show that taking mother's through a guided imagery to bring about deep relaxation can infact help turn a baby. If you come up against this during the five week course, reach out to me and we can do a separate session relative to turning your baby! 💛
From breathing exercises for labour and special moments to bond with your baby, to moving your pregnant body in a safe and gentle way: our prenatal yoga classes are those sacred 75 minutes that help you ground, every week. 💛🧘🏻♀️ Our August course starts on the 7th. 💛 Link in bio to book your spot 💛

“Give yourself over to the inevitability of birth. Soar with powerful waves 🌊. Rest in the calm waters. Surrender to the wild ride and accept that birth will take you beyond this world 🌍. Beyond space and time.....Soar.” ✨ Unknown
Beautiful picture of this powerful woman & mother, @tribeofwildlings, captured by @vida_images.✨ Just look at how she has surrendered herself. The utter trust in herself, her body and her baby. I wonder where her mind is taking her....? ✨🙏
Calm before the storm...
This birth was my longest to date pushing 40 hours and I got to hang with this powerful Mamma from the get go.
We rode to the hospital in the taxi together, checked in for the evenings induction, made the birthing room more cozy then got down to business, real American snacks and binge watching the real housewives into the early hours. Perching on the side of the hospital bed, Mamma filling me in on who was who and what had happened during previous seasons. The sweet midwifes even made me a bed up and tucked us in for a few hours rest 💕
The next morning Dad joined us at the hospital after making sure their eldest daughter and the family dog were settled with the babysitter. We hung out together for part of the day, Dad and I working together on supporting Mom. Later in the day dad went home to their daughter while Mom and I together with the amazing midwife tried a variety of positions to get baby lower in the pelvis.
Later on dad returned with caffeine for all of us and a couple of hours later the night shift Drs deemed an emergency c-section necessary. Dad got in his scrubs and off we all went to the operating floor. Once through several sets of double doors the Dr who would be operating grabbed me a pair of scrubs (it’s not always a doula can be with during a c-section) as I hurriedly put them on before anyone changed their mind!
Shortly after the most beautiful baby girl was born, Dad huddled around the baby warming table making sure his second daughter was safe and sound whilst I stayed, holding Mom’s hand and sneak peaking over the drape as they stitched her up.
This isn’t the end of this birth story, a few more hours were spent at the hospital before it was time for me to head home only to return half a day later to keep Mom and baby company on the Nicu ward but for now this is enough.
I have so many fun and fond memories from this birth, this family will be forever close to my heart ❣

🤔 What are your thoughts on this Video? 🇬🇧
Let me know down in the comments… 👇
😤 Why Complaining is Pointless:
Complaining is easy. Focusing on the negative in just about any situation is easy. Thinking about all the bad things that are up against you is easy. Don’t take the easy way out.
There 2⃣ reasons that complaining does you no good. For starters, most complaints are fielded about things out of your control. Furthermore, complaining does not help you solve the problem, it can only serve as a band-aid on a terrible wound, a partial fix. However unlike a band-aid, its a partial fix that doesn’t help you reach the same result, rather a different release valve that doesn’t help you reach the same end result. In other words, complaining may feel like it helps, but in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t.

Callum Harling - Candidate for Youth Officer
I have just finished my degree at the University of East Anglia and am excited about becoming engaged in local politics now I am back in Reading. I have had experience working with young people whilst at university helping run the vegan society and student food coop, the food co-op being something I would like to emulate back here in Reading. We are currently in a crucial time for our environment and I think that by engaging young people around environmental issues we can build a strong local labour movement that is committed to preserving the planet. I also think that it is important to engage with young people from all backgrounds locally too making sure that they all feel represented. Increasingly more young people are living in more precarious situations due to the current Tory government and we need to ensure their voices are heard.
