OPTIMAL FETAL POSITIONING • Swimming during the last trimester of pregnancy is such a brilliant weekly exercise to do and can really help baby get into an optimal position for birth.
Breaststroke is great for getting into a weightless all fours position, helping baby’s back swing around to your front with the help of gravity. Opening your pelvis and legs with every kick, allows room for baby to move down and engage into your pelvis.
I loved swimming during pregnancy, the water soothed any aches or pains and helped me to relax. Perfect for those last few weeks of maternity leave, when you’re eagerly waiting for baby. I remember taking a long swim the day before I went into labour with my first baby, followed by a marathon nap!!
When your baby is in a good position for birth, it can help to make your labour easier and shorter. Swimming helps to build up your strength and relaxes you, releasing all those feel good hormones and helping you to practice getting into a hypnotic state of mind which is perfect for birth 🌊✨🙏🏼🏊🏽♀️

... dazu gibt’s ja nun eigentlich nicht mehr zu sagen...
Daher was anderes:

My new favourite hobby = Wearing my baby (instead of having to steal one of @lucy_dickens children to wear). 🤪 The perfect way to keep my little man as close to his clingy Mumma as possible... 😂😍

Missing the beautiful Ibiza sunsets already 😢... I’ve realised how much better fresh air and sunshine makes me feel whilst I’m this big..... Also cutting down the meat in my diet has helped massively for some reason, just need to up my iron intake !!!! 7 and a bit weeks to go now. Starting to feel a tad nervous but @thepositivebirthcompany pack has been helping me massively. Any preggo’S out there, I would 💯 percent recommend it. It’s a non preachy fantastic support hypnobirthing course, which combines knowledge of the science behind the birth and how powerful our minds can be in helping stay as calm as possible.
Also today is the first day I’m insured on our car since passing my driving test !!!!! Wish me luck on my first solo drive !!! Next job is to get our pram ready , we are thinking of going for the @cosatto “wow” , any peeps out there used it ?

Did you? Have you? Would you? This vid from @visforvulva shows you how to in a really simple and clear way. It’s important to do it with clean hands (after a shower / bath is a great time to do it when you’re warm and clean!) and to only use neutral oils such as coconut oil, grape seed oil, olive oil or similar. Baby oils, scented oils etc can be irritating and are not recommended to be used internally. .
Doing it from around 34 weeks of pregnancy onwards can: ❤️ Increase the elasticity of the perineum (skin between the vagina and anus).
❤️ Improve blood flow to the perineum allowing you to stretch and open more easily during birth
❤️ Familiarise you with the sensations of the perineum stretching, removing fear when it happens during the birth allowing you to lean into opening as your baby moves down
❤️ Reduce the chance needing an episiotomy 16% and of tearing by 10% for first births
❤️ Reduce pain felt after the birth in the perineal area
Feel free to get started yourself, or enlist help from your partner if you prefer. Using a mirror the first few times can be helpful. When you feel the sting - hold it until it passes, breathe through it and notice how focusing on your breath helps ease the sensation strength. Over time you’ll notice it becomes easier and more comfortable. .
We talk about this as well as a tonne of other important things during a course - I have availability for private courses from October, and spaces on upcoming group courses - if you wanna be there just get in touch! .

No cuestiones.
I can’t recommend this book enough!
As a first time and single mum this whole experience can feel a little daunting at times.
The advice, scripts and positive affirmations have helped me feel confident, calm and empowered as my babies birth approaches.
Every birth is different but from practicing hypnobirthing the last few months I know whatever lies ahead, I’ll be able to focus on the techniques I’ve practiced and I’ll be in control of the whole experience.
Thank you @kghypnobirthing for sharing your experience and knowledge. ❤️#hypnobirthing#empowered#women#singlemama#firsttimemama # breathbelieve #confidence

This image by @michellepalasia is so beautiful,
but the message reposted from @motherdownunder is just so important!
"Obstacles to breastfeeding range from a lack of facilities and break times at places of work, aggressive marketing of baby formula, and harassment or stigma if women nurse in public."
You know what else is an obstacle to breastfeeding?
Lack of support for physiological birth!
Birth, bonding, and breastfeeding are all related!
When we have mothers having interventions that interfere with when their baby is born and with the hormones of birth...that disrupts the physiological processes that drive bonding and breastfeeding.
Of course we don't tell mothers who have had interventions this!
Instead we let them think is THEIR fault, that THEIR body is failing them and THAT is why breastfeeding is challenging.
Or maybe we blame their baby. Their baby is lazy and would rather sleep than feed. Their baby is just snacking instead of feeding properly.
How many of you know someone who had a induction that lead to an epidural that lead to a caesarean and then struggled to breastfeed?
Breastfeeding is challenging!
And it is even more challenging when our hormones and our babies aren't ready for breastfeeding!
We cannot expect support around breastfeeding to overcome a lack of support around birth!

My #Pregnancyannouncement - How I broke the news to @franciswaves (at 5 weeks) 25.01.2019🤭.
So after my mad January dash around #allertonroad in flip-flops & yoga pants, & 3 #positivepregnancytests staring up at me from the bathroom sink, my next dilemma was how to tell my husband. Kieran was down in London & I was due to pick him up from Lime St around 8 pm. I was also baking a pie for tea🥧 (don't judge)....which after staring at the pastry (pre-rolled - I am not that crazy) for 20mins, I decided it was safer to abandon the pie, as I couldn't work my hands nevermind an oven! (I can't even remember what I cooked now, just that we both didn't eat it. Probably because of the news & it tasted like💩 )! - I thought I might write the announcement on the chalkboard in our kitchen just like he did when he asked me to marry him.💍 But I had something even better! That same day our wedding album had arrived from @tomdurnphotography, presented in a beautiful box. (Will share this week). I decided to put the pregnancy test inside🤫 #sneaky! So off I go to pick him up from the station. My sweaty hands on the steering wheel, trying to keep the conversation light, when all I wanted to do was a dramatic emergency stop - "I AM PREGNANT, GOD DAM IT"!🎭 But I managed to make it home.....lasting about 3mims when we walked through the door..."Sit down. Take a look at the wedding album". Him - "Why's it still in the box?". Me - "WHAT, WELL you need to get the full effect, just OPEN IT!"...he must have had that lib over his head for 5 seconds, but it felt like forever. Him - "What. No way. You sure?" Me - placing the other two tests on the table in front of him. Him - "Wow. I'm going to be a dad." Enter the 💩 food & 2 complete zombies 🧟♀️🧟♂️for the next 5 weeks.

🌈Rainbow Energy and Babies🌈
Every time I look at this picture my heart overflows because there is no logical way to explain that beautiful rainbow orb of light around me. ✨
Because I’m no longer interested in logical but rather the Mystical; I know exactly what that inexplicable light is. It is an entourage of benevolent angels and beings that’s always around me, and now my baby. .
Since the beginning of my pregnancy I’ve felt more tuned in to the frequency of love and compassion than ever before. These higher vibrations have expanded me with a knowing and comfort that everything is perfect and in Divine order. .
Many have talked about the new generation of souls coming into our planet and named them Rainbow Children. Below I’ll share 3 characteristics of Rainbow Babies: .
🌈 They are tiny gurus that come to help us understand our life lessons. .
🌈 They are Fearless!! They have an innate knowing that the power of the Divine lives within us and transcends all fear. .
🌈From a very early age they show strong qualities of being highly developed intellectually, emotionally, and especially spiritually. .
🌟Do you have a Rainbow Child? What lessons have they taught you?🌟
Comment below and share this post to other rainbow mamas out there 💗🙏🏽🤰🏽✨🦋🌈👶🏻

Want to do a hypnobirthing class but not sure about listening to the MP3s?
Have a look at your thoughts on birth. If you haven’t given birth before, your subconscious mind will look to its database for all the info it’s stored over the years under the ‘birth’ category. Negative images from movies, tv shows, horror stories etc. probably won’t leave you madly excited at the prospect of having to do the ‘same’. How many times have these type of images come to mind already since you’ve discovered you are pregnant? Without working through these beliefs (and with more knowledge on birth, questioning some of them), your body will react as if you are in a similar situation when you go into labour 🙅♀️ Your brain will try to keep you ‘safe’ and do everything in its power to STOP the labour from happening, the very thing we don’t want to happen at that stage 🙈🙈🙈.
Listening to hypnobirthing MP3s gives your database on birth an upgrade, we retrain our brains to expect something different from birth 💆♀️💪. When your beliefs are different, your body (and mind) will welcome your labour starting and things will progress with less resistance from your subconscious mind. This brings us back to sports psychology again. If you see your birth as a marathon - you wouldn’t wait until a few weeks before the event before you start your training. You’d start as soon as you sign up! Same goes for birth - the earlier you make a start with listening to your MP3s the more effective they will be for you. Your body already knows how to birth your baby. We just need to train our minds to get out of its way and let it do the job it was designed for 🙌🏻
I’ve two spaces remaining for my next ‘Positive and Prepared’ workshop on the 11th of August (Donegal Town). Secure your place and get started with your MP3s TODAY once payment has been made. .
Hey, sorry it has been so long since I posted. I really need to be more consistant with instagram.
I'm currently 37+5 weeks pregnant. Just a few more weeks to go hopefully. Hospital bags are packed and in the car. My health has been up and down, unfortunately the vomitting has returned as well as exhaustion. The end is in sight though. So glad that my husband, who is a teacher, has broken up for summer now, so he is around to help. My iron is still low but I can't tolerate any iron so we're not actively treating that. My gestational diabetes is really under control so they're not going to induce me early, which I am really happy about. Baby was transverse for a while but has now turned and is head down. This week I've been getting loads of braxton hicks.
Can't wait for this baby to be out and to not be pregnant anymore.
I'll try to post more consistantly too, but no promises.

Childbirth is not something to be feared; it is a natural expression of life. 'HypnoBirthing' is a celebration of life and in embracing a natural birth, connection with your pre-born baby, will build a better understanding of your baby as a conscious little person who can interact with you, even before birth. Marie Mongan explodes the myth of pain as a natural accompaniment to birth, It is the fear of pain, a fear that keeps the body tense and closed during birth, that must be released to allow the experience of a gentle birth. Relaxing the mind allows the body to work. The HypnoBirthing method is an act of nature and not medical manipulation. Using the HypnoBirthing exercises - positive thinking, visualisation, breathing and physical preparation - will lead to a happy and comfortable pregnancy. In turn, the confidence, trust and life-affirming nature of your birth will be a life-changing experience for the rest of the life of the new family.
We welcomed our second gorgeous girl 4 weeks ago, at home in the water. Maya Luna, born 19.06.19, 8lb 5oz. I will add my full birth story to my website along with some better birth photos soon, for now I’ll share a few details. After a night of latent labour, which had left me feeling tired and a bit dispirited, on the morning of the 18th (my due date) I had my bloody show and so knew we were getting closer. I spent the day resting, refuelling and having baths. That night I decided to have a glass of wine and watch The Notebook (I needed Ryan Gosling’s magic powers) I went to bed feeling chilled and ready. I woke at 3am to a pop and my waters flooding the bed (sorry Sam!) Contractions started soon after, already fairly intense so we called the midwife and prepared the pool. I spent the first hour bouncing on the ball, chatting, having fun and sipping on coconut water. As things progressed I decided it was pool time. The water gave instant relief and focused me. During contractions I relied on Up Breath (in for 4, out for 6) and as they increased in intensity I imagined myself at Clarks beach (my favourite place) watching the waves roll in as I inhaled, and out as I exhaled. It was a powerful visualisation that anchored me throughout the labour. Sam rubbed my back and told me he loved me. As the contractions ramped up I quietened between them, no longer talking and shutting off the chatty part of my brain - it was time to get primal. Transition was intense (of course) but short and it was time to push. My midwife thinks Maya’s head was at an awkward angle and so it took a lot of work to move her down. Those contractions were strong and at times a bit frightening, but I stayed upright and positive and tapped into my warrior self. As she crowned I used my mantras “I am stretchy, I am opening” and avoided any tears (a contrast to the 2nd degree one in my first labour) As I birthed the rest of her I pulled her straight up onto my chest and felt an intense rush of joy, love, and relief and a huge sense of strength and power. I was at home, with the world’s best birth partner and wonderful, intuitive midwives and I’ll be forever grateful for this birth and baby 🙏🏼

Can I have an epidural if I’m Hypnobirthing? YES. YES. YES!! 🙌🏻✅
We spoke about this in our Hypnobirthing class recently and I really dislike the stereotype that people have about Hypnobirthing and pain relief, particularly epidurals. This stereotype is common amongst women but also birth professionals too! BUT - you can ABSOLUTELY choose to have an epidural and still use Hypnobirthing techniques. Those who think the opposite simply do not understand what Hypnobirthing is about or why it is important! 🤔Hypnobirthing is SO MUCH MORE than just home birth, water birth and breathing (like many think!). It is about knowing your OPTIONS, feeling EMPOWERED, using your BRAIN to make decisions and remaining at the centre of your birthing experience, regardless of if you use pain relief or what type of birth you have! I do however think it’s important to acknowledge that Hypnobirthing techniques should NOT go out of the window if you choose an epidural. Too many times the lights will go on, conversation will start and the TV/Facetime will come on! ✋🏼⛔️ This all disrupts the oxytocin - but it is so important to still keep your birthing environment flowing with oxytocin, keeping you feeling calm and unobserved, even with an epidural. You should absolutely still use all of your relaxation techniques - slow calm breathing, massage, relaxation scripts and visualisations - so turn Eastenders off the TV📺 and dim the lights!!💡

What does 90s TV show Friends have to go with giving birth?
More than you might think! I love a good Friends analogy and there is one that I always pull out of the bag when we discuss how to decide where to give birth at Hypnobirthing. .
There are lots of things consider when deciding whether you want to give birth at home, hospital or in a midwife-led unit .
Things like the environment, the distance, the services available and that's just for starters .
I encourage couples to make a list of their own pros and cons for each location to help them decide what's best. .
Often what one person feels is a positive, might be a negative for someone else. That's what's so great about Hypnobirthing you are unique and Hypnobirthing empowers you to make your own INFORMED decisions. .
Anyway back to Freinds. Remember the one where Ross finds out that Rachel loves him? He makes a list of all the pros and cons for each of them (let's not get started on that dick move, I just need it to prove my point!)
Rachel has a list of cons as long as her legs and Julie ticks lots of the boxes BUT she has one big con - Not Rachel. .
When making your own list of pros and cons, avoid getting too fixated on how many there are. you might have your own 'not Rachel' on the list; something that is so important to you and pivotal to your experience that it makes everything else seem insignificant. Trust that voice. it's your intuition .
To learn more about Hypnobirthing and less about Friends, come along to my next taster session on the 1st of August. LINK IN BIO

If you’ve experienced labour contractions then this little mouth piece will more than likely look very familiar. It’s gas and air, or entonox, THE most used analgesia for use in birth.
It has many positives, one being fast acting- after 20 ish seconds you start to feel the effects. It makes you feel like you’ve been on a good night out 🥂🍾🍸. If that feeling is not the one for you then the good thing is you breathe normal air and the effects go. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s not for everyone, I for one, after not drinking for 9months, can’t wait to have gas and air in labour 🤯🥳🥴🤪😉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Those who have used it before... what did you think?
Photo creds @chuikingli of @beth_thebumptobabychapter
How often do you look through your wedding photos? Or any photos? I was at a wedding yesterday, reminiscing about my own big day and chatting about how we all put such importance on getting great wedding photos, yet we never actually look at them! OK, so we have a few up around the house but the wedding album we spent so much time putting together lives under our bed 🛏
Looking through special photos, or even just reminiscing about happy memories can help to release oxytocin - the love hormone ❤️ I tell the couples I work with to do this during the early stages of labour. It helps pass the time, keeps you calm and relaxed, and the extra oxytocin will help your labour progress.
So whether you are pregnant or not, why not dig out your favourite pics today and take a trip down memory lane 🥰
📸 of me and my hubby. This is one of my favourites as it was completely natural and we didn't know we were being watched, albeit outside the toilets 🙈 Our venue @coltsfordmill_wedding_venue had much more beautiful backdrops elsewhere!
