The boys dreaming away our next great escape in the middle of the day 💫
This photo was taken the day we decided to hit the road last week, lucky we hadn’t traveled very far when at about 6 o clock that night as we were driving along the motorway our bus started making a serious rattling noise and we broke down. 🙄
Back inside a house we went with our bus towed behind us.
It seriously took me a good 2 days to find my way back to a healthy state of mind/perception on this particular situation ~ I sat around those first few hours drowning in the dramatic scene I had turned this situation into, lost in my head.
But of course after many a “what if’s”, “why this, now?!”, “what does it all mean”, type questions ~ I decided to stop wallowing and accept the fate that was destined to be, and having done so I let go of worrying about things like how much it was going to cost us to get it all fixed etc... We’ve uncovered the problem, found a solution (and thank god it won’t be breaking the bank), and are waiting for the mechanic to come by and fix our home up.
I’ve let go of all expectations - this was what was meant to happen ~ and although we sometimes can’t see deeper meaning behind what seems to be an unfortunate situation/turn of events; we can only hold our hope within the cosmos and know that everything happens in divine timing. 💫
Fingers crossed we are heading north by Monday 🤞🏻🗺🚐🤦🏻♀️✨ PS - thanks a lot mercury retrograde amiright?!
Working remotely, especially in a skoolie, especially with five kids, is not easy, but it’s also not impossible.
Just out of curiosity, how many of you work a remote job? Tell me about your job in the comments and let me know where you prefer to work (coffee shop, home office, school bus 🤣)?
We never experienced temperatures over 35 degrees in our van, until our last trip. 🔥☀️
We drove down south, along the Moroccan coastline near the Western Sahara. It was bloody hot. A real challenge for our cheap coolbox, and it totally failed the test.
We only had warm drinks 😅 so our new project is to build in a compressor fridge. Easier said then done, because we have to adjust our kitchen for it. 🔨

Eamon & I are not morning people. In fact I think we’ve got more done work-wise in the last hour then we have all day (and it’s 11:30PM). Maybe we’re destined to be the crazy-creative types who stay up all night tinkering or maybe it will take some 👶 🍼 to shift our internal clocks but... maybe not?! Any tips for making early birds out of us?

Stayed local today and walked into #Coniston from the caravan site. Checked out the views, shops and a #veggie#breakfast (for lunch) - lovely cafe called The Green Housekeeper, #enormous portions and delicious veggie sausages.
The #Ultra Tour of the Lake District is taking place on the last weekend in July - choice of 100 or 50 mile course! See poster for details if you're mad enough 🥴
We popped to see the Coniston Steamer as well, the rain had started a bit by then so got a bit moody.
The grave is that of Victoria Cross recipient James Hewitson - On 26 April 1918 at Givenchy, France, in a daylight attack on a series of crater posts, Lance-Corporal Hewitson led his party to their objective, clearing the enemy from both trench and dug-outs, killing six who would not surrender. After capturing the final objective he saw a hostile machine-gun team coming into action against his men and working his way round the edge of the crater he attacked the team, killing four and capturing one. Shortly afterwards he routed a bombing party which was attacking a Lewis gun, killing six of them.
Thank you for your service James. 🙏
We’ve been exploring California wine country for the last several days. Yesterday we drove through Sonoma and into Napa Valley.
There are so many wineries in Napa. They range from big wineries producing grapes for other wineries in the region to small wineries that literally make one kind of wine (several $100s per bottle). There are small family owned vineyards and larger, long time historic vineyards. Some tastings require reservations and a pretentious fee from $75 to $150 and beyond.
Our favourite winery in Napa is probably @vsattui. We visited for the first time five years ago. We were in Napa for a wedding and asked my friend for a recommendation. V. Sattui was on the list of recommendations and this past visit was our third time.
The tasting room is casual and they offer the typical wine selections as well as several unique wines such as their dessert wines (of which the Madeira is one of our favourites). In addition to wine, they also make many food items on site in their deli from delicious salamis and pates to fresh salads, olives, and spreads.
After a wine tasting you can purchase some wine and snacks and have a picnic on the grounds, which are both kid and dog-friendly!
We grabbed a bottle of the moscato frizzante (which was the perfect balance of lightly fizzy and lightly sweet), a wedge of delicious creamy truffle Brie, and a ring of fresh baguette and did just that. Of course @nigelwestdickens was on crumb patrol. Swipe to see Nigel’s face when I don’t give him a taste fast enough!
We always enjoy our time at V. Sattui and would recommend it to anyone looking to try some unique and delicious wine and spend a relaxing afternoon at a winery.

Another update we did on the camper last weekend was the sink faucet 😍 Are you in love?? It definitely adds to the farmhouse feel right? We originally spray painted it with the @rustoleum paint, but after camping in it we realized the faucet leaked. (Yay for rustoleum being a quick inexpensive fix) So noooww we have this gorgeous @deltafaucet and I am in love with it! Doesn’t it fit right in to our farmhouse look?? 🖤
🇳🇿Let me introduce to you our newly home on wheels, which is actually not that new (we have it since a couple of months already)🚐🙈
For the story, we had a lovely van, as you could notice on my previous posts, since we are in NZ and we were pretty happy with. Last April, I was planning a long Easter weekend since few weeks when unfortunatly, Ben had a car crash (a drunk guy passed on red traffic light and literally smashed our van). No more trip planned 🤷♀️
We stayed at home the whole weekend, sad, thinking of how we gonna do without a van. Then, we decided to check some ads, just in case a deal comes up, and we actually found this little gem💎🚐
We had a viewing on it and fall in love straight away with its amazing setting. Swipe to the right to see inside➡️😍
What do you think about our new tiny home?

🇩🇪 Volkswagen Transporter T3 - 1.9 83hp [1979-1992]
🚗 Total production : VW Transporter still in production since 1950 ✊
🚨 We spotted so many vehicles in the hometown of carspotting, #berlin
This little bulli deserve a special comment because it's our first van spotted in Berlin, when we went there to visit some friends. We used to cross the city by foot sometimes, only for increase our chances to find the pearl 👀
Hope you'll enjoy this tiny bus 😊
📌 We are finishing our T3 vans serie with this blue one. The T3 was part of the popular culture thanks to his #vanlife agreement. Westfalia was choose by VW for their campervans productions. But many people, young or not, decided to create their own interior design. This T3 is one of them. It haven't the beauty and the technicality of a true Westfalia, but it have the charm of a homemade camper! 💯 🏕️
We decided it was time to take an unplanned trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee today. We prepared for rain ☔️ , but are delighted we haven’t needed our jackets yet. ☀️
After a coffee at Rembrandt’s ☕️ , we’re geared up for some exploration in this historic & hip city.
↡Have you ever been here? If so, what’s your go-to spot? ↡
While we were out venturing today, which started out as a beautiful sunny day, we got caught in a major downpour 15 minutes away. No big deal, we thought, we’ll just linger longer over lunch (although we did retreat indoors.) Then we returned to #homeiswhereyouparkit and wow! Power is out and the driveway to our rig is blocked by a tree fall! All is well at our rig, lack of power notwithstanding on a day that really requires A/C - thank goodness we weren’t far from fur babies 🐶 Our neighbors a few sites down took the brunt of the storm from a limb fall rather than the tree fall - initial assessment is no significant damage, thankfully. Moral of the story is the status of your day can change in minutes. And this lifestyle is not rosy every day. .
I have been home for about a month now and I feel like the road is calling my name.
I am starting to plan a few trips for September / October / November .. any suggestions? Mountains are a must. As always 🏔

This is incredibly awesome! We put together a video of our visits to a few different @harvesthosts destinations and @starrhillwinery added the video to their website! Starrhillwinery.com
Check out the bio link to see this beautiful winery and if you get a chance to visit or order online... we recommend a bottle of #guiltypleasure ...that was our favorite!

TOOL REVIEW: .
I have been wanting to try out an oscillating multitool for pretty much our entire bus build. For some reason I just couldn’t get myself to buy one because it seemed like every other tool I own could do the same job. However, recently we needed to cut out a piece of our subfloor without damaging the surrounding subfloor. I didn’t really have anything that could get the job done
For the price (and the fact that we had store credit), this Dremel was an easy choice. It came loaded with accessories like multiple cutting blades, storage bag, and an attachment that turns it into a detail sander
To be honest I was still skeptical. I attached a blade and tested it out on a piece of cardboard. To my amazement it went through it like a hot knife through butter! Then it was time to cut some subfloor. We powered through over 2 inches of subfloor, insulation, and framing with ease
Let me tell you, this thing is awesome! I wish I had it months ago when I was doing a ton of precise detail cutting on our cabinets. If you’re in the market for a highly versatile tool for your bus conversion, this guy should be at the top of your list
Disclaimer: we are in no was sponsored or associated with Dremel, we just like what they have to offer
