I made the Way-More-Veggies Bolognese from #healthiertogether late last night (you can peep it, and a few little cooking tips, in my stories!!), and reheated a bowl for lunch today. While both tasted pretty much like heaven (umami bombs, with fresh torn basil and an ample amount of grassy olive oil), the one today was way better for my gut. Why?⁣

Cooking and cooling pasta and a number of other carbs created what’s called starch retrogradation, which is like the opposite of mercury retrograde in that it’s awesome. Basically, the structure of the carbs changes into what’s called resistant starch, which either passes through your body undigested OR serves as prebiotic food your good gut bacteria. Either way, it’s way better for your blood sugar. ⁣

I don’t go so far as to cook then cool all of my carbs because who has time for that (I wanna eat!) but it’s a great argument for eating leftovers (other than overall laziness, of course) 👍👍

Today is a hard day, the rain and storm really does do something to your mindset. 
This mom right here, opted for sleep instead of pushing play. - I didn’t sleep good last night - I am detoxing from processed food and sugar - It was still dark when my alarm went off at 7:30a - The thunder and rain was coming and I knew a kid would be climbing with me soon. 
All the excuses and I didn’t get up! 
BUT I WILL NOT SKIP, I WILL get in my daily workout! 
I have little humans that support me and know momma needs her stress reliever of exercise.

Up and out the door at 6am sharp for a run! 2 miles in the books. I love running and do not do it often enough. I figured if I did it once I would get back into it.
 I do however need some new sneakers for running. I hate wearing sneakers but obviously I have to wear then when I run 🤣 although I have ran in flip flops. 
So.....looking for suggestions on sneakers that are comfortable for running. Any suggestions would be great! 👟

Feeling Runderful today!🏃🏼‍♀️ _______ Up and out the door at 6am sharp for a run! 2 miles in the books. I love running and do not do it often enough. I figured if I did it once I would get back into it. I do however need some new sneakers for running. I hate wearing sneakers but obviously I have to wear then when I run 🤣 although I have ran in flip flops. So.....looking for suggestions on sneakers that are comfortable for running. This morning I had a early morning class in Gaithersburg with @real_rolicious! @real_rolicious was subbing for @maddog93cross and the people in the class were super welcoming and enthusiastic to be doing zumba at 8:30 in the morning! I took this picture after class today and I almost didn't recognize myself when I viewed it after. Went out early before it got to get my run in before it got too hot and was looking for a light color shirt that wouldn’t hold heat and would breathe. I was all excited to finally fit into a shirt that I haven’t wore in 5 years. Today is Pay Day.....and I got a extra $1,000 on top of my regular pay with my side hustle at work.⁣

Sooooo! We just paid all our weekly expenses and have $1,750 leftover.⁣
⁣
We decided we are going to put $750 into Baby Step 3 (6 month savings) and use the $1,000 to go on a family vacation for 4 days, 3 nights. ⁣
⁣
We are going to go to St. George Utah.....Yes we live in Utah. However surprisingly we have only flew/drove through St. George. ⁣
⁣
We've done our research and there are so many things out there that are free that we can do.⁣
⁣
With that being said. WHY $1,000??⁣
⁣
Because we only own 1 van (PAID OFF)! The mileage is already at 170,000 so we don't want to rack up more precious miles on it. ⁣
⁣
Which means we will have to rent a vehicle that can fit our family of 6.⁣
⁣
We found one that will total $239 plus $11 rental coverage per day for 3 days. (Plus the cost of gas).⁣
⁣
We also don't have any friends or family that live in St. George so we will need to stay in a hotel $300 for 3 nights. ⁣
⁣
The rest will be for food!⁣
Anyway were very excited to do one more summer vacay before school starts!⁣

healthyme Confession: I had to get my ring resized because I could no longer take how tight it was on my hand. Instead of thinking about making a health change in my life, I went for the quick easy route where I could burry the reality of my weight gain under it. This went on for a LONG time with many more instances of avoiding my current reality.  Fast forward to NOW, my ring is not only loose but I now need to get it sized down back to its original size. 🙌🏼
It’s the small victories that lead to HUGE breakthroughs!

Instead of thinking about making a health change in my life, I went for the quick easy route where I could burry the reality of my weight gain under it. This went on for a LONG time with many more instances of avoiding my current reality. healthyme 💥 Follow the logic train for a minute 👉🏽 You make the time to train (which isn't easy to do) 👉🏽 But you go to the gym without a routine and just wing it all the time 👉🏽 You make zero effort in attaining better and proper lifting form.....do you think that is time spent as effectively as possible? Nope! Instead - if you already MAKE the time to train you should 👉🏽 have a routine 👉🏽 stick to progressive overload and 👉🏽 put in the effort to get great lifting form! Doing those things will be time spent very effectively and you will see the rewards of your work 😉

Proper lifting form is something that no one gets right away. It takes time, practice and a little research. You don't have to have a B.S in exercise science by any means but a little effort will go a long way. I like to have my clients get in the habit of recording their compound lifts. Recording will help you see what you do great, what you need help on and how you are progressing. Sometimes we think we are moving a certain way only to see different when we watch a recording. If you are putting the time aside to train, make it as worthwhile as possible. Train smart AND hard!

Nope! Instead - if you already MAKE the time to train you should 👉🏽 have a routine 👉🏽 stick to progressive overload and 👉🏽 put in the effort to get great lifting form! Doing those things will be time spent very effectively and you will see the rewards of your work 😉 - Proper lifting form is something that no one gets right away. It takes time, practice and a little research. You don't have to have a B.S in exercise science by any means but a little effort will go a long way. I like to have my clients get in the habit of recording their compound lifts. Recording will help you see what you do great, what you need help on and how you are progressing. Sometimes we think we are moving a certain way only to see different when we watch a recording. If you are putting the time aside to train, make it as worthwhile as possible. Homemade “sushi” as cool as a cucumber. 🍣🥒 Would you try this?
TAG SOMEONE WHO WOULD!❤️ INGREDIENTS

Sushi
2 cucumbers
1 cup sushi cooked rice
4 ounces smoked salmon (optional)
Avocado, sliced
Red bell peppers, sliced
Carrots, julienned 
Spicy Mayo
2 tablespoons avocado mayonnaise
1 teaspoon sriracha
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Cook rice according to package instructions, but do not stir when it is cooked. This allows it to stay sticky. 
2. Cut each cucumber in half and hallow it out by remove the seeds with a knife or spoon. 
3. Place a small amount of rice inside on half cucumber, then compress towards one side to make room for the other ingredients. Carefully add the smoked salmon, avocados, peppers and carrots, compressing as you add until the cucumber is packed full. Repeat for the remaining cucumbers.
4. Using a sharp knife, slice cucumbers into ½ inch thick pieces. 
5. Serve immediately or cold with soy sauce or spicy mayo sauce, if desired.

Stop taking temporary solutions that don't even solve the root of your problems. You're actually just making things worse. It’s a no brainer that you’re going to fall sick, feel stressed and have issues with your health. Worst case scenario, you get diagnosed with a terminal disease.
Just go back to the basics and create the right environment for your body to heal. Gain more energy, feel great, look your best and add a couple of healthy more years to your life. Those are long term solutions that will eliminate the root of all your problems.

How is it related to other aspects of your life? - Much too often I hear people say things along the lines of "Well, I ate too much last weekend, so here I am trying to make up for it" or "I was being lazy and missed half my workouts last week, so I'm going to do double this week". - Please be careful with using this frame of mind towards your exercise. When you start to view exercise as a type of punishment for your actions (or inactions), that's when you start to reinforce negative perceptions towards your fitness & exercise. - If you view exercise as punishment, it will prevent you from being truly grateful for the amazing opportunity you have to be active and healthy. - Exercise because you CAN, not because you have to. - Tag someone that needs to hear this! Let me know, what is one thing you are thankful for today?
healthyme 1- Tracking your food at the start of your journey will help create awareness of the nutrient content and how calorie dense they actually are. Tracking food doesn’t have to be long term just enough to create some intuitive eating.
2 -Create a habit of moving in a way you enjoy. It doesn’t have to be labelled as exercise just go out and have fun. 
3 -Focus your meals around nutrient dense and whole food meals. This will help you keep satiated .
4- Focus your recovery around the big 3. Sleep, nutrition and hydration don’t over complicate it.
5- Find a way you enjoy to stay consistent.
6- Just be fucking patient. This ain’t going to happen over night. Patience, consistency and enjoying the process is what’s going to work not a magic pill or shake. You didn’t get fat over night nor you will get fit over night so slow the food down and be patient.

1- Tracking your food at the start of your journey will help create awareness of the nutrient content and how calorie dense they actually are. Tracking food doesn’t have to be long term just enough to create some intuitive eating. 2 -Create a habit of moving in a way you enjoy. It doesn’t have to be labelled as exercise just go out and have fun. 3 -Focus your meals around nutrient dense and whole food meals. This will help you keep satiated . 4- Focus your recovery around the big 3. Sleep, nutrition and hydration don’t over complicate it. 5- Find a way you enjoy to stay consistent. 6- Just be fucking patient. This ain’t going to happen over night. You can do all the exercises, but if your diet is not on point and you don't take things like proper recovery and sleep into account, it's not going to matter.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
