Or is toast not for you at all? 🤷‍♀️ As you know I love toast, and I like to switch things up to keep it interesting 😜. A few of my favourite slightly more unusual combos are:

At this time of year frozen berries are so much cheaper than fresh and they retain their nutrients, making them a great option for the chillier months. First on my list was my blueberry chia compote that I make with frozen blueberries, honey, chia seeds and a slash of lemon juice, as it works a treat with almost any breakfast!

Deets 💜: one pot of @siggis_uk blueberry skyr topped with @spooncereals dark chocolate granola, blueberry chia jam, @pipandnut almond butter and bee pollen ✨ *to make the compote simmer a bag of frozen blueberries (approx 350-400g) in a saucepan, with 2 tbsp. water, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, 2-3 tbsp. honey (or alternative sweetener of choice) + 3 tbsp. chia seeds until thickened and then once cooled, store in a jar in the fridge.

This week has inadvertently involved lots of rest and nourishing food, and very little physical activity or dissertation work, as I’ve spent most of it knocked back with some sort of flu bug. Low energy, a dull headache, a sore throat and a nasty cough. I’ve felt frustrated, but have tried to just go with it. Alongside taking regular cough medicine and strepsils throat lozenges #justbeingreal, I’ve been having plenty of feel good snacks like this one ➡️ @sainsburys medjool dates stuffed with tahini + cacao nibs. I used a mini loaf tin for mine (drop me a message if you want to know which one), lightly greased with coconut oil and cook in the oven whilst I shower and get ready. It’s perfect for a slower morning or even a packed breakfast on the go!

Deets exactly the same as last time 🍫🍌: mix the following ingredients together and then pour into a greased ovenproof dish: 1/2 cup oats, 1 egg, 1/2 mashed banana, 1 tbsp flax seeds, 1 tbsp cacao, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, a pinch of salt + 1/3 cup milk. Top with another 1/2 banana and bake for 15-20 mins at 180 degrees, then serve with greek yoghurt, berries + @pipandnut peanut butter ✨

P.s. I haven’t tried a vegan version without the egg, but I think it’d probably work with a chia egg instead, it just won’t be quite as spongy!

Today’s batch were made with a fresh jar of @pipandnut peanut butter, as the peanut cravings were real 🥜, plus hemp seeds and chia seeds to mix things up and add some texture. In fact, this week’s #FridayFavourite spotlight goes to Pip’s peanut butter, as honestly I don’t go a week without it; on toast, on porridge, in protein balls or just straight out of the jar, the possibilities are endless!

Anyway, back to the deets 🍫😛. Ingredients:
100g @pipandnut smooth peanut butter
60g @pulsinhq cacao & maca supershake protein
40g @adunaworld cacao powder
60g @creativenature hemp seeds
30g @creativenature chia seeds 
60g @tocahoney honey 
1 pinch of salt
+ approx. 8-10 tbsp water/non dairy milk (more/less depending on the consistency, you want it moist but not overly sticky). Method: 
Put all the ingredients into a food processor and blitz until smooth, scraping the sides to ensure you’ve got everything in the mix, adding the liquid as you go. Once a thick dough forms, roll into 10-12 protein balls using your palms and then enjoy! Either tuck in straight away or store in the fridge in an airtight container ✨

I tried to really step out, to enjoy slow mornings, long evenings on the beach and all the local delicacies with one of my closest friends, because #lifeisforliving ☀️. And that’s exactly what I did. We spent time swimming and dozing at Mallorca’s beautiful beaches, explored gorgeous local towns up in the mountains, tucked into late night gelato, before a Spanish club night that went on long into the morning 😉, hired bikes and cycled along the coast of Palma ☀️, visited a beautiful town called Sóller, where @junelarrieta took me to their first zero waste shop and cafe @re_organic (their chocolate cookie was 👌) and enjoyed so many delicious family meals cooked by @junelarrieta ‘s wonderful mother, such as this plate of herby lemon roast chicken, apricot and potatoes, lettuce and tomatoes dressed in olive oil and crusty bread (during which I discovered how much better every single vegetable tastes dressed or cooked in olive oil ✨). I also tried my first coca de patatas, a local sweetened potato bread, which was delightful. Head to my stories to see a few more snaps of what we got up to, as it truly was a beautiful long weekend. Now back to the reality of London life! 🤓

Not too sure how it’s already Saturday, but I guess it’s a good thing - so the old saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun (and working 🤪). I’ve lived of leftover pieces of this chocolate chickpea tart, which has kept so well in the fridge. I like mine with yoghurt and a side of berries, but you do you. It’s rich and chocolatey, and definitely not too sweet, so if you’ve got a super sweet tooth, you may want to adjust the sweetener quantities slightly! ✨

So without further delay, deets are as follows:

For the base:
350g your fav granola (*I used @wholey.moly cookie crumbles - see below!)
60g coconut oil
2 tbsp maple syrup/honey (adjust depending on how sweet your granola is)

For the topping:
1 tin of chickpeas, rinsed + drained
60g coconut oil, melted
50g cacao powder
100g maple syrup (or honey if you prefer)
1 tsp vanilla extract
A pinch of salt

Method: start by making the base - blend all the ingredients together in a mixer, then press down firmly into a large tin lightly greased with coconut oil using a spatula. place in the freezer. now make the topping - blend all the ingredients until smooth, then spread over the base. drizzle over your favourite nut butter (I used @pipandnut crunchy PB) and then freeze again to set. keep in the fridge until ready to serve and then slice into squares. *My housemate works part-time for @wholey.moly, and so in the spirit of never wasting food, we collect the leftover cookie crumbles are her sampling sessions and keep them to enjoy as granola. I thought, why not try turning them into the tart base? It worked a treat! Any regular oat-based granola should work though 😊

Essentially it catalyzes the hydrolysis of specific glycosidic bonds in mucopolysaccharides that constitute the cell wall of gram-positive bacteria. ⁠

In other words, lysozyme breaks down the tough ‘skin’ of bacteria that is formed of carbohydrates and interlocking peptides. It is secreted by granulocytes, macrophages, Paneth cells, Brunner’s glands and colonic crypt cells. I spend a lot, and I mean A LOT, of my time chatting to people about calories. Whether it's PT clients, people who attend my weekly classes or simply a friend, it's a topic that comes up a lot 💭. What really surprises me (when I speak to new people about said topic) is that they don't really know anything about them when you put them in the context of the fitness and health world 🤷🏼‍♀️.

At this time of year frozen berries are so much cheaper than fresh and they retain their nutrients, making them a great option for the chillier months. First on my list was my blueberry chia compote that I make with frozen blueberries, honey, chia seeds and a slash of lemon juice, as it works a treat with almost any breakfast!

Deets 💜: one pot of @siggis_uk blueberry skyr topped with @spooncereals dark chocolate granola, blueberry chia jam, @pipandnut almond butter and bee pollen ✨ *to make the compote simmer a bag of frozen blueberries (approx 350-400g) in a saucepan, with 2 tbsp. water, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, 2-3 tbsp. honey (or alternative sweetener of choice) + 3 tbsp. chia seeds until thickened and then once cooled, store in a jar in the fridge.

This was something my mama used to make my sisters and I when we were little 👶. It was literally like a hug in a mug! ⁣

Randomly I woke up this morning, craving it! It was just what I needed for today 🤗⁣
⁣
Ingredients: ⁣
- 3 tablespoons oats ⁣
- 3/4 cup milk (I used coconut milk) ⁣
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon ⁣
- 1 tablespoon mixed nuts and seeds (I used almonds flakes + walnuts) ⁣
- 1 teaspoon date syrup (or honey/maple syrup) ⁣
- Other optional toppings: nut butter, fruit and berries. ⁣
⁣
Directions: ⁣
1. In a sauce pan add the oats and milk. Bring to medium heat and stir. ⁣
⁣
2. Bring oats and milk to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer. Optional to add more milk if needed, should be a milky consistency you can pour + drink. ⁣
⁣
3. Pour into a mug. Sprinkle cinnamon and add the nuts. Drizzle the date syrup. ⁣
⁣
ENJOY!! I feel this is going to be making more appearances throughout autumn 🍂 and winter ❄️ 😋

So when I was 15, I wanted to come to Loughborough, to study sports science. Why? Not because I was sporty at the time, no. No, I was the exact opposite. I was really sick (as my oldest followers know), but I knew that exercise was something that could help me, and help others.

When I was 10 I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and I stopped doing all activity. I had a lot of time off school, and I stopped playing tennis, swimming, dancing, everything.
.
Over the following years I struggled with my weight, with periods of it being too low and too high. Being a tween/early teen at the time, I struggled with my body image and social anxiety. .
When I was 14 I was diagnosed with an eating disorder and compulsively exercised. To get better, again, I had to stop exercising completely until my relationship with it was better.

I started with body weight training at home, slowly building my strength up. CFS was still an issue. My coordination was shit. I didn’t do PE between 15-17 either. But I began to find that strength training helped me feel empowered and managed my CFS, and gave me a good outlet mentally.
.
Where did Loughborough come in? I had a hunch that anaerobic fitness plays a key role in managing CFS. Doctors previously had told me to do more aerobic exercise (it didn’t help). I still have a hunch that it’s down to mitochondrial issues.
.
Also, to be a better personal trainer and to help people in an evidence-based way, I wanted a degree from the best sports uni worldwide.
.
A Levels were stressful but I got in. I was still struggling with my mental and physical health. But... when I got here, I found that there was even more to get stuck in with than I originally anticipated. I’m not sure if I will end up picking up those research questions, but since I’ve been here, I’ve founded and chaired Cook n Bake, started @bakebalance and have started this role, helping to inspire entrepreneurial spirit in our students!

When I think of personal alarms, I think of my grandma – something that’s there for older people to use in case they fall. Speaking of brownies, and speaking of @bakebalance, last few months I’ve been focusing on other commitments (my mental health! exams! My new job! etc!) but I’m excited to say that relaunch is on the horizon bigger and better than previously.

Now I work a full time job at Loughborough Students’ Union, I’m having to balance this relaunch strategy with a 9-5/10-6, and Freshers is upcoming. We work extra shifts during Freshers as the student representatives for Loughborough Uni so again I’m calming down my very easily excitable brain and trying to bite off only what I can chew (lots of brownies but equally not very many currently..!). But! I am excited, and I feel myself again in terms of my brain space too so it’s not long now ⭐️⭐️

My new job! etc!) but I’m excited to say that relaunch is on the horizon bigger and better than previously. . Now I work a full time job at Loughborough Students’ Union, I’m having to balance this relaunch strategy with a 9-5/10-6, and Freshers is upcoming. We work extra shifts during Freshers as the student representatives for Loughborough Uni so again I’m calming down my very easily excitable brain and trying to bite off only what I can chew (lots of brownies but equally not very many currently..!). But! I am excited, and I feel myself again in terms of my brain space too so it’s not long now ⭐️⭐️

hbloggers Bringing in Monday with my three favourites- @barebells.uk, blondies and bananas!

Ingredients:
- 170g mashed banana, - 1 diced @barebells.uk bar,
- 50g tahini, - 60g plain flour, - 25g melted coconut oil, - 65g @bionaorganic coconut sugar from @musclefooduk,
- 1/2 tsp baking powder,
- 100ml @barebells.uk shake, - 60g egg whites.

It’s as simple as put all of the ingredients in one bowl together. Mix. Pour in to a lined baking tray. Bake at 170c for 25mins. Leave to cool in the tray. Cut. Eat.
