Happy birthday, honey💘 You’re the best* person I’ve ever known. *kindest, most gentle, hard working, intelligent, wise, gracious, playful, handsome, generous, & present.
I want to be like you when I grow up & I know all our kids feel the same way. Love you forever.
Today I had a moment of transparency and wanted to share my thoughts with hope that it will inspire and motivate someone. 🙏🏿 My Hubby and I became FOSTER PARENTS over 2 years ago, the little guy on my back in the picture was the third FOSTER KID that we took into our home. During that time Ashton was in and out our home for 2 years, he truly touched each of us. I’m so happy to say that this past FRIDAY we OFFICIALLY became his Guardians. We are elated about his future and the next chapter of our lives. It’s so many little BLACK boys and girls that deserve safe homes, love, consistency, discipline and structure. Foster parenting isn’t an easy task but the reward is definitely worth it, you can literally change a kids LIFE!💫✨
Thank you for doing what you're doing. You are loving in some of the hardest and deepest and most complicated places. Places most men go to great lengths to avoid. Yet you, with arms open and hearts broken, have courageously stepped towards them for the sake of others. That is so counterintuitive, remarkable and beautiful.
You may not see it now. You may not ever see it in this lifetime, but what are you doing is of eternal significance. That is remarkable.
So, thank you. (LINK TO FULL BLOG IN PROFILE) #fathersday#fostercare#fosterdad
Good morning! Yesterday while at work, we had four, roughly 3/4 week old kittens come in. These dudes were in ROUGH shape, weighing only about half of what they should weight at this age. I can wrap my thumb and pointer finger around their bellies, and their faces are extremely gaunt and unhealthy looking. I offered to take them for the night, since I knew I’d be up all night at my other job anyways. There are four tabbies, three male, and one female. So far they seem to be doing just fine and will hopefully overcome this setback!
When I decided foster care would be my "full-time" job, I had no idea how much of a true definition that would be. Just this week alone we had 16 foster-related appointments, and my list for more appointments to schedule and phone calls to make won't fit on one sticky note.
These past two to three weeks have been some of my hardest. But in it all the people God's given me have been so there for me in such a truth- and life-giving way.
I've questioned myself and my calling and my ability and my capacity so much. Tonight these lyrics were like a salve.
"When I thought I lost me, you knew where I left me; you reintroduced me to your love. You picked up all my pieces, put me back together, you are the defender of my heart."
Time on social media has been slim. I may be on more as things lighten up. But instead of numbing or scrolling mindlessly, I'm TRYING to prioritize better and feed myself better. This is just a little drop-in update 🤗
If you're interested in Foster Care a great way to get your feet wet is to become a respite provider!
Respite providers offer short term care to foster children and have a very important role! Without respite foster parents would lose their minds and never get a break.
Head over to my blog and find this post under the Respite category!

Going into work! I honestly miss the grind of making my own nitro brew. I worked real hard at my little bottling company and was one of the first to bring Nitro to VA (maybe the first, not completely sure yet). I’m half tempted to get a home setup going and try out something similar but maybe improved a bit and different. 🤔
Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Ben & Tess Lynch! It was so so good to have a kidless night with my sweet husband. Super thankful for a Fostering Hope team that helps our family out SO much and takes on our children even at bedtime❤️
#Fri-yay! After a week of being super sick, we’re heading into the weekend with the coolest new $5 BST find!
And a jealous #beagle that can’t fit!
Check out the instastory to see his favoritest “toy” of all time.

Went for a run today in 93 degree heat. Not sure about my current life choices 😂
Hair type: Coily 🧡
Superpowers: Bold. Futuristic. Fun.
Tips: Handle with care! Coily hair is fine and fragile, and the driest of all ethnic hair types. It is critical to keep this type of hair adequately hydrated and to take your time when detangling.
For more information on how to care for this hair type visit the link in our bio. #cutitforward
All of my HART Foster Club members are absolutely wonderful, but Karissa and Mike are unique in that they are the very first members to join the Foster Club which was implemented in February of this year when I took over the role of Foster Coordinator. Karissa had been dreaming about fostering kittens for a long time and in April her and her husband Mike turned her dream into reality by signing up to foster for HART. They took in our first litter of kittens for the 2019 kitten season. Here is what Karissa has to say about her time as a foster:
"As first time fosters, we had plenty of expectations of what fostering would look like, but what we didn’t expect was how quickly these little bottle fed babies would steal our hearts, teach us many of lessons, and become family. We truly enjoyed every bit of our journey of raising and cuddling the cutest kittens ever (I may be a bit biased 😻)!! Of course there were times that it was messy, scary, and even emotional, but the wonderful people at HART were available all day and night for my “Is that normal?” or “What should I do?” texts. They made us feel supported and gave us all the tools we needed to be the best foster parents we could be. As much as we will miss the sounds of kitten paws running down the hallways, we are thankful for our time with them and are truly excited for the joy each of them will bring to their new families." ❤️
I am so grateful to have such a compassionate couple join @hartcambria dedicated team of kitten heroes! Thank you for helping us save tiny lives! ❤️😺

I don’t think I would have ever imagined this life: washing dishes while witnessing you, the most independent, strong willed, beautiful child stand on top of the couch cushion playing with wood block animals in a cat-patterned gown & ninja turtle mask - just so you could see me.
This life is messy. It’s confusing. It’s hard & exhausting. But man, it’s good. Glorious, even. I can’t wait to see what God will do with you, little one. I can’t wait to see how you’ll grow, the mountains you’ll move, the waves you’ll make, the world you’ll change. There are days it seems I have nothing left - no energy to spare. But then just enough rushes back when I see your face. I see glimpses of Heaven in you & that, L girl, is the most beautiful. It’s in those moments that I’m reminded of the source - Jesus - the reason we said “yes” in the first place.
Yes. A billion times over, yes.
Hot mess express on the way to our doctor appointment this morning. 👈 Read my previous post on that if you missed it.
Anyways the appt was scheduled for 8:15 am 😱...and it's an hour away with rush hour traffic.
Why do I do this to myself?
Anyways got all three babes up and dressed and out the door almost on time... and like any good mom I was planning on stopping at QT for coffee and breakfast.
So walked into QT filled up a coffee cup , set it on the counter to put the lid on and it just sliiiid of the counter all over my pants, and the kind gentlemen next to me.. who were incredibly gracious. 😳 cue embarrassment...but the older gentleman was an angel sent to encourage me because he just brushed if off and kept on smiling saying it was no big deal....i walked up to pay and prayed he would be right behind me so I could atleast buy his coffee after all the mess. God answerwd 🙌Morning off to a great start. Got more coffee...got on the road and made it only 5 minutes late to said appointment...great success in my book. .
🌮Taco Tuesday! Ummm yes please! My mom gave us the go ahead for date night...We ordered our uber and headed out to #ventiki . We seriously sat for five hours...ate way too much food, kept the drinks flowing, and chatted the night away around the fire pit. I can not begin to express how good it felt to connect and to be reminded of how much I adore this man! We NEEDED this evening of laughter, carefreeness, and 🍹Mai Tais...man, did we needed those Mai tais!
The fact of the matter is our family unit runs the best when Gar and I are doing good. We don't get out as much as we should and its something I want to be more mindful about!
Relationships are not easy and having kids makes it five billion times harder. Exhaustion takes over and it's challenging to find time to enjoy eachother outside of being mom and dad!
Let me encourage you to take time to date your spouse, ENJOY eachother, and grab that Maitia!
❤How do you keep your marriage healthy with kids? Favorite date ideas?

What an adventure this month has been. From completing our last class to be foster parents, to getting the call for four sweet babes, to them leaving us for another home a week later. Our lives have sure changed the last few weeks, but we wouldn’t change it for the world. Not the mom I expected to be after 5 years of marriage, but it’s what God has blessed us with at this point in time - and we are forever thankful ❤️
Sometimes the littlest ones are the bravest ones. 💕
Our 440,000 foster children are some of the bravest children out there.
Every purchase supports our organization of the month, @hope1312co .

At 10 years old, Peter Habyarimana made a choice that changed his life and the lives of thousands of others – he ran away from home. That decision set in motion what would eventually become his mission, becoming a foster dad. His story may change your life too.

7. Offer childcare where appropriate
It may not be appropriate for some families to take you up on this due to regulations or because some looked after children need the consistency of their regular carers. However, others would really appreciate this, and especially with birth children who will not have the same restrictions.
If you could take them out for an hour or two to the local park or beach, please do! It will do wonders for the foster family.

These little guys will change you from a cranky mom to a kind and loving mom. ❤️ What?!?! How is this even possible? Well, let me tell you. ❤️ They tell your body to release more of its own Oxytocin which is the love hormone. This creates feelings of calm and closeness. Oxytocin also promotes attachment! So, all of us Adoptive Moms would benefit so much from this on tough days. It also helps with Social skills and fosters generosity. It’s just so incredible when you begin to think of all the benefits of this magic pill. 💊
Tomorrow we go to the doctor for our little fella...one of several appointments each week...this one is different though because bio parents are able to come.
Which of course brings out all the feels in me...because I'm his momma, I know every detail of what goes on with him. How he sleeps, how he eats, how he is doing with everything...but when the doctor asks "who is in the room here" I'm reminded that currently I am the foster mom, she is still his mom. Which, if I'm being honest, made me sooo angry last week(like embarrassingly so) because in my head she doesn't deserve him...I do...and then God striped away all the pride and arrogance of my heart and reminded me that she is His too. Loving birth parents is not easy and honestly I really don't want to sometimes. It's easier to make them the enemy and forget that they are people, and in desperate need of a savior. just like me. I wrestled with wanting to treat her very coldly but God in his infinite wisdom would not let me do that and he softened my heart towards her, in miraculous ways.
So tomorrow I'm off to love the heck out of my boys Mama 💙
