If you’ve been following my stories this weekend, you’ll know I’ve been FREAKing out about a new massage technique I learned from the master, @yakov_gershkovich. This technique works with the facial muscles to naturally lift and tone and the results are insaaaaaane. Scroll for some great info from my friend @themodernu and a mind blowing before and after from @yakov_gershkovich page!
I’m so excited to bring this revolutionary technique to my clients @shenbeauty and beyond! Questions?! Ask me below!
FOAM ROLLER LEGS! If you have never used a foam roller, I highly suggest getting one! This amazing little thing is like a deep tissue massage without the cost and you can do it in the comfort of your living room.
Foam rollers help with recovery, pain, muscle soreness, flexibility and mobility. Using a foam roller can help get oxygen to your muscles and speed along the natural healing process!
Here are 4 very basic moves to roll your legs out. You can’t really do this wrong. If you’re just starting out, follow along with my video but also just move around and feel it out. Take your time and enjoy it! I did speed up my videos a little, but usually I take my sweet time!

💫 Psoas (hip flexor) Stretch 💫
This is a brilliant stretch to try - prop your hips on the roller (NOT on your lower back) - keep your abs activated to decrease the pressure on the back when you straighten your leg 🙌🏻
Repeat 4 times on each leg and hold for 30seconds on each side. #psoasstretch#locker27#sportsmassage

Are you a fan of massages?💆 _
The first time I got a deep tissue massage, it was kind of painful to be honest, but I got used to it and felt amazing afterwards. If you have never gotten one, I highly suggest trying it out at least once and see how you feel 💙

THURSDAY THOUGHT 💡
Talk about your blessings more than you talk about your burdens ✨
We begin this A-Z with Arthritis. A very common condition which causes pain and inflammation in the joints, and is particularly in prevalent the adult population.
There are many different types of arthritis conditions, and three of most common types are:
Osteoarthritis- occurring as a result of wear and tear, and thinning of the cartilage in the joint capsule
Rheumatoid arthritis-the body’s own immune system attacks the lining of the affected joint capsule
Gout- caused by an excess deposit of uric acid in the body often obtained from high fatty foods, red meats, and sugary foods; leaving many crystal-like structures in the joint capsule
The general signs & symptoms of arthritis are joint pain, stiffness and swelling (gout usually affects the big toe or fingers)
General anti-inflammatory products and medications such as NSAIDs are useful in treating all arthritis conditions. Products containing grape seed and other herbal products such devils/cats claw, turmeric, nettle, also provide anti-inflammatory and pain relieving effects.
For osteoarthritis, products which help rebuild the cartilage such as collagen, glucosamine, and hyaluronic acid are particularly useful. Additionally, supplements containing cherry, celery seed, and nettle help lower uric acid which is useful in tackling gout.
Incorporating exercise is also beneficial in treating arthritis. Range of motion activities and stretching eases joint stiffness and increases the ability to move joints through its full range. Strengthening muscles around the joint is also essential i.e. through isometric exercises, resistance/weight training, as well as low impact aerobic exercises which do not put too much stress on the joints such as cycling, rowing, swimming.

Week two of my massage training and I am officially mind blown!!! First week I thought right that's it...learnt it all...man I was wrong! This afternoon I received the most incredible neck, chest and shoulder release from my tutor, and have had the pleasure of trying it out on others, and I can confidently say I feel space in my neck and chest I haven't felt in years! Sometime we don't know we're even holding tension until it's released!
Can't wait to get back next week and try it out!
I'll be fully qualified in February and my training is in Swedish, Deep Tissue and Advanced Massage. I'll be offering a short time offer (email to be sent at the end of January so give me your email to be added to my mailer).
🍑 GLUTES!! 🍑 —
Who doesn’t LOVE a good and deep tissue Glute release?!?!
The Glutes can be a common cause of lower back pain. Either they aren’t firing properly or there is tension being held here (maybe both).

This gentle, non-‐‐invasive technique works on releasing both physical and mental blocksstored in the body and helps facilitate greater ease in all different areas of life.
A session of AccessBars can help with the following:
• Greater mental clarity
• Significant increase in joy and happiness
• Deeper relaxation
• Anxiety and depression
• Health and weight management
• Stress and overwhelm
• Panic attacks
NEW SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
Scientific research by Dr. Terrie Hope PhD, DNM, CFMW published in the Journal of EnergyPsychology: Theory, Research, and Treatment in November 2017 has revealed the results of one 90-‐‐minute Access Bars session indicated a significant decrease in the severity of depression andanxiety.
From the results of four scientifically valid standardized questionnaires and through measuringbrainwave patterns using brain mapping, (QEEG), Dr. Hope discovered in her study that Access Bars reduced the severity of anxiety symptoms by 84.7% (average). Participants had a reduction in theseverity of depression symptoms by 82.7% (average).
The results of brainwave measurements before and after Access Bars showed an increase in braincoherence in all participants, indicating a change toward a normal state after the session.
Brain wavecoherence is associated with communication between brain regions and researchers have found thatoptimal brain coherence is correlated with many things such as intelligence, learning ability, alertness, reaction time and creativity.
The significant decreases in severity shown in this research suggest that Access Bars may be effective as a treatment for anxiety and depression.
Dr. Hope is planning on more extensive researchin the near future.
