core It can be hard to balance gym work and your pitch sessions but it is manageable. The main thing to remember is that you are a footballer, not a bodybuilder. So football training should always come first, and should not be negatively impacted by your gym work.

You want to focus on quality over quantity. Keep your rep ranges row, and lift heavy on your compound lifts like your squat and deadlift. 1-2 times a week is enough for gym work, but you need to be focused for the duration of the session. Keep your leg session as far away from your game as possible, so if you are a part time player who plays on a Saturday, maybe work your legs on Monday. Then keep your upper body/supplemental exercises for Wednesday.

Make sure your recovery is on point too. This allows you to maintain a higher training load, and in return make more improvements. Keep hydrated,  eat for performance, and get enough sleep.

core Here I have 2 NFL athletes and GSP sponsored pros @taylorheinicke & @imjulianwilliams performing one of the most brutal full body stabilization & core exercises you’ll ever attempt – The OFFSET LEVERAGE FLOOR PRESS. And no, this is not an upper body mass or strength builder. Instead it’s a very advanced core & ab drill that also crushes just about every stabilizer in the body.

With that said it does have excellent transfer to other movements including the bench press & floor press as it reinforces full body tightness & incredibly high levels of intramuscular tension which can do wonders for improving just about any lift not to mention athletic performance. The level of anti-rotation & rotary stability is off the charts here. Think of this as a combination barbell floor press & Pallof press.

This was both Taylor’s & Julian’s first time attempting these & as you can see it took some time for their nervous systems to wake up & get dialed in. This is one that if you go into the set with a complacent or lazy mindset & are not 100% mentally & physically engaged it will literally be impossible to perform.

If you’re in need of a movement that literally forces you to engage every muscle in your core not to mention upper body stabilizers, you’ll want to give this a go. Just be forewarned, these are inordinately tough. With that said I recommend not sliding your hands all the way out to the collar but instead start off gradual and progressively increase how far out you slide your hands.

She hated herself. She used food, alcohol, and cigarettes to mask her pain. She hated exercise and “wasn’t motivated” to even try.  She felt worthless. She allowed #Fibromyalgia and #backpain to rule her life and didn’t know how to even begin to change.

Pic on the right is me, today, living the life I didn’t know was possible. It started with trying something new and WAY out of my comfort zone.
⠀ 
My #transformation began with one Yoga/Pilates Fusion class. That one class left me feeling like I “might” actually like “working out” 😱 and gave me hope to keep going to see what else I could accomplish.
⠀ 
Soon after that photo on the left was taken, I lost almost 40 pounds and had 8 fitness certifications under my belt. I loved myself and I loved helping others. Teaching fitness became my passion and my career.
⠀ 
It didn’t all happen at once, but it did happen ... and it’s still happening! All because of that choice I made 20 years ago to “just try”. I now know that anything I set my mind to is possible.

core 4 CORE MOVES!

What’s up, Achievers?! @laurenpak22 here and today we’re going over some moves you can incorporate into your core routine! All of these moves are definitely modifiable:

For the push-up to pike, you can easily forgo the push-up and just perform the pikes. Feel free to bend your knees while you pike to make it a little less challenging by reducing the lever and lowering the flexibility demands.

For the straight leg sit-up you can also just bend the knees a bit. You can also set up with your feet a bit wider to have a larger base of support and see if that feels better as well.

For the the seated L-sit leg raises, your hand position and how straight your legs are dictates the challenge. The closer your hands are towards your feet and the straighter your legs are, the harder it will be. Adjust accordingly!

The kettlebell halo is not an exercise where you might “feel” it as much as the other three; however, it is a fantastic drill that really challenges your overall alignment. This has a lot of carryover to other strength exercises that you perform in the gym that require you to get “long” like deadlifts, squats, pushups, etc.

So dropping down in to the plank position. What I do here is put my feet a little wider apart then hold on the handles and pull through, rotating my hip a small amount.

I love the comradery of the Mysore room and all of the friendships I have made @ashtangayogapalmbeach and @angeliqueyoga Guidance is like no other! She knows me. That’s so important in the teacher student relationship! But there is also something very personal about home practice. When I practice at home it’s quiet, peaceful, but I can still hear the words of my teacher “press up but jump out!” and it helps to motivate me! While I’m in #pinchamayurasana I work on being as light as a feather of the peacock. 🦚 .

⚡️Core Foundations⚡️ . "You cannot strengthen a muscle your brain cannot activate." - Diane Lee . The exercises above can help you "find" and fire the inner core muscles. Skipping over the basics and trying a challenging exercise can be tempting! But circling back and checking in with the foundations is extremely helpful. . Tips: ☑️ Activating inner core: imagine there is a rope between your two pelvic bones (front of hips). Try to tighten up the rope by drawing them together. This is a gentle force. ☑️ Activate inner core before each rep ☑️ Try not to hold your breath ☑️ Move slowly, as this is about control ☑️ Keep low back in a neutral position . ❓Have questions? core 🔬The core muscles are usually trained as movers but recent studies show that the core has a greater response when trained as a stabilizer instead. Comes in the anti-exercises, anti-rotation, anti-extension, anti-lateral flexion.

👍The Pallof Press is a great anti-rotation exercise that was first described by physical therapist John Pallof.  It's one of those exercises that almost anyone can do in some form or another.  Learning to resist rotation is crucial for protecing the low back. Target the entire core, including the shoulder and hip complexes in addition to the abdominal wall simultaneously to improve functional strength.

❗️The goal of the exercise is to maintain a neutral spine in an athletic position while resisting a rotation stimulus. 
Allow the athlete to start with a wider base to get the feel and narrow from there.  The athlete presses the arms out straight creating a greater rotation force that the hips and trunk must resist.  Personally I prefer to narrow the base rather than try to jack up the weight.

✅The muscles of the core were designed to stabilize the spinal column and prevent movement, so training it so prevent rotation in this movement is the perfect way to target a commonly neglected action of the core. Also, by adding an asymmetrical half kneeling stance, we can train the hip and pelvic musculature to stabilize out of alternating positions, which is great for improving core and spinal stability.

core This is one of my recently discovered core exercises that I have been loving lately. I’m not really sure what they’re called and I can’t seem to find it on youtube, so lets just call them plank hip lifts.

It fairly simple, but there is a small subset of people that can’t seem to feel it in their abs, and instead feel it in their shoulders or chest.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I’ll go over some coaching cues that may help out a bit.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
* Posterior pelvic tilt- this is simply tilting your pelvis back or thinking about trying to tuck your butt underneath you. Basically you should try to pee at the wall in front of you, usually works well for the guys haha.
* Focus on your abs lifting you up and not rotating or pushing through your shoulders. Pretend as if there is a string attached to your butt and it is lifting it straight up.
* Flex the abs and pause for a quick 1-2 count in your head at the top of the hip lift.

I like a higher rep range for these so shoot for between 20-30 reps and from 3-5 sets and let me know what you think.

core MAMA WALK IN THE PARK LEG WORKOUT

A maternity leave highlight for me is taking Leah for walks in the park. I often combine it with a quick workout, and it leaves me feeling fab! 💪🏻

❗️This workout might burn the muscles- the burn is good, I love the burn!!! 🔥 If however, the pain you experience is more than just your muscles being worked, please slow down or stop completely
.
🏃🏻‍♀️Start with a +- 10 minute walk as a warmup 👉🏼Repeat the following routine 3-4 times with a 2-minute walk in between sets as active rest. One set consists of:
1️⃣24 Walking Lunges
2️⃣15 Squats
3️⃣1-minute power walk (walk to bench)
4️⃣24 Step ups
5️⃣14 X Jumps

👉🏼I used my baby as a weight to increase intensity for the step ups but if you are not confident in your balance or don’t feel comfortable doing this, just use your body weight and leave baby in a pram next to you

This is a great exercise that targets your abdominals! 
Some people try and just get as many crunches as they can without actually focus on what is being worked ❌ 
By doing it that way ☝️ you may feel it more in your lower back which isn’t where we are trying to focus on! •Keep it slow and controlled •Bring your rib cage down towards your bellybutton •Once your hands reach just under the top part of your knee lower yourself back down again •Big exhale at the top emptying the lungs and squeezing your abs •Aim for 3 seconds on the way up and 3 seconds on the way down

My favorite exercise was the assisted pistol Squat. Use the trx to take some body weight off the standing leg. Train for proper form and in time rely a little less on the trx assistance.

Bend the standing leg and keep your knee behind your toes. Do not let your knee collapse inward or open to the side. To return, press the ground away, feeling your heel push the ground.

➡São músculos profundos e superficiais do tronco. Incluem: assoalho pélvico, transverso do abdômen, multífidos, oblíquos externo e interno, reto do abdômen, eretores da espinha e diafragma.
Podem ser incluídos também o quadrado lombar, rotadores profundos, latíssimo do dorso, glúteo máximo e trapézio.
Por esse motivo os treinadores dão ênfase quase todos os dias ao treino do CORE.
➡Quanto mais forte for seu centro, mais facilidade você terá de evoluir no treinamento, melhorar postura e reduzir lesões.

I drive past about 25 take aways on my way home from work 
And after a 13 hour day then coming home and working on the house.. You better believe i almost gave in..
But what's the point spending all day preaching to my clients about making the right decisions then doing that..🤷‍♂️ And I feel so much happier for sticking to my plan 😊💪

I recently introduced this core “stairs” exercise to my mixed level classes (and everyone was so happy about it! 😂) Make sure you are maintaining a neutral spine when walking the legs up and down for three steps (range can be reduced to make sure you do not excessively arch your lower back). Great way to target and strengthen those core muscles! 🔥
