She had tummy issues, migraines, fatigue, heart Palpitations, acid reflux, chronic sinus infections, seasonal allergies, anxiety, and a chronically inflamed rib cage with a slipping rib (this is super painful by the way). And undiagnosed autoimmunity. But NO MORE! 🙌🏻🙏🏻😭 I’m 203 days or 6 months and 22 days on AIP. 🌟💯💯 For those of you who don’t know AIP is short of the autoimmune protocol (or autoimmune paleo). It’s a lifestyle overhaul for people with autoimmune issues like me 🙋🏼‍♀️. It’s a super strict, Hail Mary type of eating plan that includes organic fruits, some veggies and all (grass-fed, pastured, organic, etc) meats. In the elimination phase, there’s no preservatives, additives, beans (legumes), grains, alcohol, nuts, seeds (coffee is a seed 😫), eggs, dairy, cane sugar, night shades (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers). I also did away with caffeine to heal my adrenal fatigue. 
Here’s my 6 month update: ➡️ I'm accepting that I might have to be in this modified elimination phase for several more months, maybe even a full year or so. A lifetime of the American diet can really work a number on your gut. Working hard on healing with collagen, glutamine, and other supplements to enhance healing. 💪🏻

➡️ Recently, I’ve had some flare ups related to stress in my personal life. Learning to not only restrict food, but toxic situations as well. ✋ ➡️ Seriously considering getting a certificate in Nutrition Response Therapy and adding on an AIP Coach Certification. Not leaving edu policy (I ❤️ my job) but just want to expand my learning 🤓 and network with like minded folks and maybe on the side help a few people along the way. ➡️ Also I’m becoming a better cook, as they say necessity is the mother of invention 👩🏼‍🍳🥘 ➡️ BOTTOMLINE: I’m so happy to have my life back. 🙌🏻 I’m on the go constantly and feel sooo great. And I’m so thankful for healing food. God is good!!!

Have you come and seen us down at the @christchurchfarmersmarket? It’s where it all began for us and it is by far Alex’s favourite part of the week. We love being able to interact face to face with customers and answer questions/educate people on the benefits of bone broth and hear stories on how people are using our broth in their everyday life. autoimmunediet I’m no stranger to a healthier lifestyle. I am also fairly familiar with a dairy-free diet. But. After a lot of research and documentaries, my husband and I realized we could do a lot more to make me better, and to improve the diets of him and the kids. So, about three weeks ago, we cut dairy entirely out of our diets, along with processed foods and sugars (for the most part), and I cut soy and gluten as well. Have you seen #heal? Or #livingproof? Or #foodismedicine ? They will change your life. When it literally comes down to being sick, or living your life fully, it’s not a hard decision. But it’s also not easy during the day-to-day normal. We, as a society, have grown accustomed to efficiency, and lost sight of quality, therefore, living a plant based diet all. the. time. is hard. Traveling? Oy. Two practices, a PTA meeting, and a cross country meet? Ugh. Just picking something up is nearly impossible. But, again, when it comes down to being able to simply live, it puts things into perspective pretty quickly. If we are what we eat, it explains a lot nowadays. I am putting my best foot forward in taking care of myself from the inside out. I have noticed a significant change in my symptoms, they are not gone, but certainly better. There I was, standing in front of my mirror brushing my hair, when I noticed chunks of it coming out on my hair brush. It was horrifying and depressing, after all I was only 32 years old and this was not normal! Before returning to DXB I was eating a mainly Gluten Free Diet, taking all my vitamins every night, drinking lots of water & regularly exercising (daily). Since returning to DXB I’ve let my gluten free diet slip, ran out of many of my vitamins & not re-stocked them on time & haven’t been exercising daily 😳 And I got sick! 
But more importantly it has taken me a lot longer to shake this sickness.
Last year I got a bout of flu (the worst I think I’ve ever felt) went to hospital to be put on a drip & 5 days later managed to ski down a mountain! 
HOW? Because I was 💯 % on top of my nutrition & exercise & so my body was more readily able to fight off the flu. 
If you have an AUTO IMMUNE disease, don’t just rely on prescription drugs to get you through life. Research what correct nutrition & exercise can do for your condition, because BELIEVE ME it really does make a huge difference. 
And why wouldn’t you do everything you can to help your body. 
But yes, I forgot all of this, being caught up in the throws of life & now I’m paying for it. 
BUT I did a huge vitamin order yesterday (thank god for pharmacy deliveries) & I feel so much better today. 
CONSISTENCY IS KEY! You just can’t take time off from doing everything right. Yes it is a massive pain in the ass, but it’s totally worth it. 
I’ve just started listening to the #autoimmunewellnesspodcast and it’s really very helpful, I recommend you give it a go 🎧 .

When I first heard about the AIP years ago, it freaked me out. I was afraid I'd feel restricted and hungry, so I avoided trying it for a long time. After an initial adjustment period though, I started feeling better than I have in quite a long time. There are many things that I really don't miss or crave very much. Even though I might momentarily think that I miss bread, pasta, sugar, dairy, etc, when I remember how I felt when I was eating them, I can confidently remind myself that I don't like those foods (the taste itself, sure, but the food itself: nope, I don't like it). In short, it doesn't feel like a sacrifice—it feels like taking good care of my body so I can feel as good as possible and show up for my family, my friends, and my life! 
Yesterday I made this delicious roasted butternut squash soup (recipe from @cookieandkate) and then ate it again for breakfast because it's just that good. 😋

I also see omnivores with IMPAIRED DIGESTION suffer from the same thing. If you do not have enough stomach acid, you will not properly break down your proteins. ⁣

Take aways for optimal health:⁣

✔️Eat sufficient, high-quality protein from a variety of sources⁣
✔️Eat between 90-125g of protein daily - this will depend on your individual needs (This comes out to about 12-16oz of meat daily)⁣
✔️ Be in a calm state while eating and chew your food 30 times per bite to optimize digestion⁣
✔️ Have a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar before a meal or consider supplementing with some HCl &/or enzymes to further enhance proper breakdown of your food⁣

She was on insulin for type II diabetes taking over 30 units of humalog and 27 units of long acting insulin at night and 1000 mg of metformin 2x a day ! Since starting this she is down to 6 units of insulin and no longacting! Since our banana tree has been ripe and ready, I’ve been in a banana bread baking mood. This recipe was the easiest to make and the most well received 😊 
Ingredients: 
3 cups almond flour;
1 heaping teaspoon baking soda;
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt;
3 large eggs;
2 large ripe bananas;
1/2 cup coconut sugar;
4 tablespoons melted coconut oil;
1 tablespoon vanilla extract;
1 dash of cinnamon;
2 handfuls of chocolate chips (you can add as many as you want, but I wanted it to be subtle). Directions: 
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees + grease a loaf pan. Whisk together the almond flour, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl and set aside. In the bowl of a stand mixer (or large bowl if you’re using a hand mixer, which I did), mix the eggs, bananas, sugar, coconut oil, cinnamon, and vanilla )on medium speed) until well blended. Mix in the almond flour mixture in three additions on low speed, mixing well and scraping the sides after each addition. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour the batter in the prepared loaf pan and bake for 45- 55 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Enjoy!

THEN My uncle invited us over for some homebaked blueberry apple pie (Swipe) and... I'm back to day 0 🤦‍♀️Haha couldn't say no to him.. BUT it's so good. Worth it. No regrets. 🤷‍♀️ But felt sleepy and lethargic after.

The kids were back at school last week, so back to routine, no more picnics on the beach or tapas in the village (shame!) I want to try and switch Zac’s diet up to see if it helps improve his platelets! I’ve had some great information from @_essentiallymorgan_ who recommends @medicalmedium and also had a wonderfully positive message off @itp_monthly who gave me hope that chronic doesn’t necessarily mean chronic! .

Upon doing my own research, I’m going to start doing daily smoothies/juices specifically including celery, spinach, papaya & pomegranate.. I’ve also read that goats milk helps, so I’m going to switch his cows milk for this! .

Also, folate rich foods like spinach, Vitamins B12, C, D & K and iron rich foods - this especially for us because Zac is suffering with anaemia at the minute! So if anyone has any other suggestions or things that they have found have worked for them, please let us know and spread the love 💜

קודם כל, הפרדוקס של המסעדות האסיאתיות: כמה שמסעדה אהובה יותר ע״י קהל ״מקומי״ (בהקשר של המוצא ולא המיקום), ככה האוכל טעים יותר, וככה קשה יותר להיעזר באנשי הצוות של המסעדה, וגם למצוא מנה ללא גלוטן (מסעדות סיניות), פלפל חריף (מסעדות קוראניות), סויה (מסעדות יפניות)

טיפ הבא: במסעדות בשריות בסגנון מערב פרוע, אפילו אם הוא כבר מתורבת, תמיד יש סטייק ללא טיבול, ולפעמים הוא מלווה בירק מבושל או צלוי על הגריל, ללא רוטב מסוכן

_ 2 pounds of chicken breast 
_ 1 cup almond flour 
_ 2 eggs 
_ chopped garlic 
_ cilantro 
_ 2 cups chicken broth 
_ 3 lemons 
Directions:
_ 1. Cut the chicken into thin pieces 
_ 2. Dip the chicken into a whisked egg 
_ 3. Dip the chicken into almond flour 
_ 4. Sautée the chicken on a pan with garlic 
_ 5. Place the chicken ontop baking dish 
_ 6. Pour the chicken broth into the baking dish 
_ 7. Cut and squeeze the lemons into the pan. Top off the top pieces of chicken with lemon slices 
_8. Sprinkle cilantro ontop 
_9. Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes
