#didyouknow that blue whales 🐳 have a very interesting process from their mating until the calves reach 6 moths of age? Their mating season starts late in autumn 🍂 and finishes at the end of winter ❄️. Gestation period lasts between 10 and 12 months, and females give birth approximately once every two or three years. When the calve is born, it weights about 2.5 to 3 tonnes ⚖️ and has a length 📏 of 23 ft (7 m), which is a pretty big calve, don’t you think? Blue whale calves drink about 100 to 150 gallons (380 to 570 litres) of milk 🥛 per day and grow about 198.5 lbs (90 kg) per day also! After six months, the calve has doubled its length, but it won’t reach adult size until between 5 or 10 years, when it will be 66-69 ft (20-21 m) long in males and 69-75 ft (21-23 m) in females. Aren’t these creatures amazing? Do you like whales? Tell us in the comments ⬇️⬇️⬇️, mention someone 🚹🚹🚹 that loves whales and follow us ✅✅✅ for more:
Amazing news from @savingthesurvivors with the birth of a new baby rhino 🦏❤️ Repost from @savingthesurvivors . . . .
STS celebrates the birth of a baby Rhino!
This is a milestone in Rhino conservation and the fight against poaching!
Back in September 2016 "Seha" a White rhino bull, was shot, badly mutilated by poachers for his horn and left for dead. #teamsts rescued him from the farm where he was shot, and now resides at a safe location.
Since his brutal attack, he has been under the constant treatment of Saving The Survivors. Last year Seha was introduced to "Lucky" a cow that herself survived a gunshot wound when she was younger and yesterday little "Daniel" was born!
It is truly amazing that two rhino, both survived poaching attacks, recovered and are now contributing to the survival of the species.
Dr. Johan Marais said - “We tend to forget that by saving one animal, we are essentially saving several animals, if we allow them to continue to breed.” Dr. Johan and #teamsts are on their way to check on Baby Daniel, mother and of course our very own survivor and proud new father “Seha” We will bring you more details and pictures over the coming days.
Thank you to all at Rhino Pride Foundation and everyone that believes in us, with your support we will continue to save animals and fight for their survival! ⬇️Support our work by donating⬇️
During the postpartum period, you will require more care and support than you think you might need. It’s a raw, vulnerable time where you will be healing, resting, and connecting with your baby. In order to do that fully and without stress, you will need to plan for how all of the areas of your life will be cared for and managed.
PLUS, you will need to make a plan for how you will care for and nurture yourself during the first few days, weeks, and months after birth.
During my EMPOWERED POSTPARTUM online program, you will prepare a plan that holds your needs as well as your family's needs dear. It will be the backbone from which you gain strength, courage, and energy. It will be there for you on the days when you feel unsure, overwhelmed, and exhausted. And it will be there for your partner and support team, when they are seeking ways to offer you care and support. It will be your trusted ally and a source of great relief.
Today is the last day to register for the Empowered Postpartum program. It begins tomorrow and I don't want you to miss out!
Get all the details here: couragemama.com/empowered (or click link in bio).

In Canada many women choose nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for pain management (it’s actually a 50/50 oxygen nitrous mix.) Women still feel the pain of labour but it helps them relax and decreases their perception of pain. It takes effect a few breaths in and wears off quickly so it doesn’t affect the infant. It doesn’t interfere with the release of your body’s natural oxytocin. Of course there are mixed reviews on every labour technique but I’ve seen women love (and hate) it. What was your experience and did your hospital offer it to you first?

Demain tu as 1 an.
#souvenir#grossesse#postpartum#accouchement#naissance#birth#bebe#baby#travail#labor#lejourdavant
This week’s #sixminutesexed episode is up! I am so, so excited to share this with you. This week, I wanted to focus on parents and caring adults, so I called psychotherapist Stefanie Rosen to talk to her about how to have good conversations with our kids.
Stefanie talked with me about what parents struggle with when it comes to talking to their kids about sex and relationships, how to answer questions in an age-appropriate way while respecting boundaries, and how to start conversations if you have a kid that doesn't seem to ask any questions or show any curiosity.
This weeks episode contains no graphic information, so it’s appropriate for listeners of all ages, but it’s really focused on parents and caring adults.
So many moms feel ISOLATED. Especially in the beginning.⠀
The key to keeping your sanity as a mama? Connection.⠀
If you feel your mood starting to sink and loneliness creeping in-- reach out. Connect with others, especially other moms because they GET it.⠀
It can be hard to do that if you're used to handling everything on your own, but we are meant to do this mama thing together. It truly does take a village.⠀
Reach out. Ask for help. Find mamas to connect with at the park or online or at church. Send me a message! We are in this together 💖⠀
Tag a mama friend so she knows you're always there for her when she needs you 💖⠀

Hey everyone! I have lots of new followers so I thought I’d introduce myself again.
I’m a mom to a beautiful 5 year old daughter. She’s starting kindergarten in the fall and I’m way more emotional about it than I thought.
I decided to become a doula because of the wonderful experience I had with my doula. It’s amazing how having a doula can completely shift your birth experience.
I have so much compassion and love that I want to extend to everyone I meet.
I have lots of experience with breastfeeding and postpartum workouts and easing back into work life ❤️ #doulasupport #doula#birthdoula #postpartumdoula#prenataldoula#birth#breastfeeding#workouts#momlife #mom
Did you ever see a more beautiful cord?
The NICE guidance recommends that the cord be left between 1-5 mins until it has stopped pulsating, unless there is a medical reason of course. Clamping allows the blood from the placenta to continue being transferred to the baby even after they are born. This means that the baby could receive up to 214g of oxygenated cord blood, which is about 30% more blood than they would have without leaving the cord.
The benefits are huge: an increase in blood volume, more red blood cells and increased iron levels in the baby even up until they are six months old which helps with their growth, physical and emotional development. It also increases the amount of stem cells, which helps with your baby’s growth and helps with their immune system
You can request delayed cord clamping and the baby can be passed directly to you after birth
If you have a cesarean you are also able to request this, unless there was a medical reason why it isn’t possible you should be able to delay the cord clamping too 💖

And then my little best friend met her little best friend.
Ever wondered what the difference is between a birthing centre and a maternity hospital?
WJC Braintree are having their Open Day on Saturday 22 June - the midwives will be there eager to show you round and show off their totally *wonderfully* tranquil centre.
And I’ll be there too - just as eager to talk to you about birth photography and how I can give you the most *powerful and emotional* images you will ever see.
I’ll also have a competition for you to win a photoshoot! So pop down on Saturday and find out why so many mums and dads choose a birthing centre to meet their baby for the first time x
Best friend: someone whom you can be yourself with, someone who you can have pointless conversations with, someone who still likes you even when you’re weird, someone who forgets to buy you a birthday gift…that’s why I came up with this. Happy birthday my best friend!😂😂😂😂
HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂!!! YOU DESERVE ALL THE CAKES, LOVE, HUGS AND HAPPINESS TODAY.💋❤️

❤️👶🏼 Skin to skin contact with baby 👶🏼❤️ This week is national breastfeeding week! This year the theme is skin to skin contact with your baby. We actively encourage all mums and their partners to have skin to skin with baby straight after baby is born. Benefits include:
🌟 It helps to calm and relax baby 🌟 Promotes bonding with baby 🌟 Regulates baby’s heart rate, breathing and temperature 🌟 Protects against infection by enabling colonisation of baby’s skin with mums friendly bacteria 🌟 Stimulates the release of hormones to help support breastfeeding
You can do skin to skin whether you choose to breast or bottle feed your baby. We can also help with skin to skin in theatre if you wish. For more information on the wonderful benefits of skin to skin, ask your midwife!
I need a babymoon with this guy. Sometimes, we we get addicted to paying off debt (darn you student loans) hustling a good savings, working too much, not spending enough, but ya know, I think we've earned a babymoon.
Affordable babymoon ideas? GO!

• THE AMAZING PLACENTA • 💜 ESPAÑOL ABAJO ⬇️⬇️
Is a large organ that develops during pregnancy. It is attached to the wall of the uterus, usually at the top or side. The umbilical cord connects the placenta to your baby.
Blood from the mother passes through the placenta, filtering oxygen, glucose and other nutrients to your baby via the umbilical cord. The placenta also filters out substances that could be harmful to your baby.
It produces hormones that are needed during pregnancy, such as lactogen, oestrogen and progesterone. It keeps the mother’s blood separate from the baby’s blood to protect the baby against infections. Towards the end of the pregnancy, the placenta passes on antibodies to protect the baby after birth.
The placenta is expelled from your body after the birth, usually about 5 to 30 minutes after your baby is born. This is called the the third stage of labor. If you have a caesarean birth, the doctor will remove the placenta after receiving the baby.
It's really amazing, isn't it? Kind of magical! 🥰

this is true in any part of life, but especially during labor. if you say, “this hurts,” or “I can’t take it anymore!” guess what? it’s going to hurt like hell and you are not going to be able to take it anymore. cultivate the experience that you want to have, and practice it throughout your pregnancy. visualization, sound therapy, and hypnosis are amazing ways to transcend the sensational experience of birth. find the coping mechanisms that work for you, practice them, and bring your baby into the world in an empowered space of your own creation. but remember! you are NOT in this alone. your family, friends, and doulas (😉) are here to help and support you.
1 in 10 people are diagnosed with endometriosis, & currently there’s “no cure”. But did you know the Uni of Sydney’s researching how it affects the sex lives of men whose partners have it? They prob get more blow jobs than most. Poor guys. 🤗
For years I was told my pain wasn’t real. While I was in an appendectomy, they finally realized I didn’t have appendicitis but instead good ole endo! When the doctor told me & I cried out of relief/frustration, he rolled his eyes with, “It’s not that bad.” The only options I’ve had are extra-strength ibuprofen, consecutive birth control & a period once every 3 months, advice to get married/have children before it’s “too late”, & my uterus removed. None are guarantees but alas the only options. After trying the first 2 with no desire for the others, I resigned to living with a chronic illness that doesn’t get taken seriously, like hundreds of other gynecological disorders. Working with a heating pad & taking breaks to vomit. Unable to get off the floor & blacking out from cramps. Being “educated” about it by men who used Google for 5 minutes, or sighed at when I tell them why I don’t feel well because wasn’t I “just on” my period? Bleeding so much I don’t get how I’m still alive (srsly tho). No appetite. Extreme fatigue. Then there’s the other fun 3 weeks of our cycle! Viewed as weak or incapable when we finally cave & acknowledge our body’s limits, despite working through it every other day with no complaint.
Our periods aren’t fucking gross. Our wombs aren’t something to grimace at. We all lived in a uterus. We all came out covered in blood. That blood gave us life. The least we can do is give it the respect it deserves 👊🏼
I’m still on my healing journey, but the only relief & progress I’ve found so far has been acupuncture & cannabis. A system that addresses the whole person & how their physical/emotional body is nourished. A plant that (along with the many medicinal benefits) helps guide me deeper into the journey. As I continue to delve, I see my emotional body fed limiting beliefs, misogyny, & fear of birth. No more. Birth is messy, but it is creation 💉🌹🌕
