Every year a huge number of veterans retire from their services, they spent more than half of their lives protecting the nation. The respective governments provide for several schemes and benefits to help in making veterans retired life struggle free; and they rightly deserve all the assistance for having spent years serving the nation. America’s veteran population recorded 22 million during year 2014, of which about 10% are women. The veteran population comprise all those who have long served in uniformed services like US army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps and Navy.

The US Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) provides for number of benefits and services for veteran and their dependant or spouse. There are many programs operated by the department so as to assist and protect the veteran interests. There is no doubt veterans are extremely talented and skillful, be it any task they believe in perfection. This is the reason that a large number of companies show interest in hiring them instead. Veterans can manage any business that too more efficiently than a trained business owner as the work ethics they possess are unmatchable.

Leading a normal life after serving for years can be a little struggle initially. Many veterans opt for starting up their own businesses or venture thereafter which always turns into a soaring success story. Small businesses comprise a significant part of every economy and there are about 2.4 million businesses operated by veterans in America. The most common hurdle while setting up a business is financing, but there are various programs run by US government that help provide for financial support to veterans aspiring to become entrepreneurs.

The Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) under the Department of Veteran Affairs provides for veteran benefits for entrepreneurs. VA’s OSDBU aims at enhancing the access, awareness of veteran entrepreneurs and reducing the risk factors, thereby improving their performances by year 2019.

If you are a veteran wishing to start up your own business, there is one non-profit trade association in the US, known as Veterans and Military Business owners Association (VAMBOA) which is completely at your service. They are widely known to help and support veteran owned businesses, Military owned businesses as well as the service disabled veteran businesses.
