GRE or Graduate Record Examination is an international examination for overseas post-graduation. Students who want to pursue their postgraduation in foreign universities may take this test. GRE Examination Pattern

 GRE is made of two sections- general test and subject test. Since each subject is different the subject test is different for students of different stream.  The general test section is made of the following sections-

This paper in GRE syllabus is for measuring the knowledge of quantitative reasoning of a student. This portion is for evaluation of the students' expertise in writing and information building. It includes-

  1. Reading composition
  2. Text completion
  3. Sentence correction
  4. Parts of speech
  5. Tense
  6. Idioms
  7. Syntax
  8. Subject-verb and subject- pronoun agreement
  9. modifiers
  10. Parallelism
  • Subject Test

The second part ofGRE syllabus is the subject test. This portion is for evaluation of a student’s knowledge on his/her bachelor's degree subjects. This score is crucial because colleges review this score for admission and other processes including scholarships, stipends, recommendation letters etc. It is a descriptive paper and can be taken on three months per year- April, September and October.

 A GRE score is valid for five years from the date taken.
