First Solution: Check leaks inks in the ink cartridges

  • Turn on the printer and open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Now press the front of the first cartridge to release it and then pull it out of the carriage.
  • Check ink leakage in the cartridge and be careful that the ink doesn’t get scattered on the skin or clothing. If the cartridge is leaking, then replace the cartridge or move it to the next step.
  • Slide the cartridge back into the color-coded slot and then gently push it forward until it puts into place.
  • Repeat the steps to check the other cartridges for leaking ink and close the access door.

Second Solution: Reset the printer

Here are the following steps to reset the printing mechanism –

  • Is the printer already on? If not, then turn it on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before continuing.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Now unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and wait for at least 60 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer and if the device is turned on, then automatically turn it on.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Third Solution: Remove and reinstall the printhead

Here are the steps to remove the printhead –

  • Turn on the printer and wait until the warm-up period finishes.
  • Open the ink cartridge access door and disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer. Unplug the printer to prevent the carriage from movement.
  • Now lift the carriage latch and grasp the side of the printhead. Gently lift and remove the printhead from the carriage.
  • Finally, on a clean sheet of paper place the printhead assembly upside down.

Follow the steps to inspect the carriage part where the printhead sits –

  • Look inside the printer for removing any obstruction from the printhead compartment.
  • Use a flashlight to thoroughly check for any obstructions.

Follow the steps to insert the printhead and then lower the carriage latch –

  • Hold on to the sides of the printhead and turn it right side up with the nozzles facing down.
  • Insert the printhead into the carriage on the front of the printer and ensure that the electrical contacts face the inside of the printer.
  • To fit the printhead fully in the carriage, gently rock the printhead to the left and right.
  • Now carefully lower the carriage latch to secure the printhead.
  • Verify that the carriage latch is down and then close the cartridge access door.
  • Now reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer and press the ‘Power’ button if the printer does not turn on by itself.
  • Wait till the time warm-up period finishes and the printer is in idle state.
  • If the above steps resolve the issue then skip to the step to clean the printhead or else go to the next step.
