Is Taj Mahal really worth visiting?

Namaste Fellow Travellers!

I know what you guys are thinking, “What a weird question!, you must be really stupid to ask this question!!”

Right?

Indeed, I second your views Taj Mahal is really worth visiting.

So why pose this question at the first place?

The rationale is to share with you the compelling reasons to visit Taj Mahal.

The same reasons which compelled celebrities like:

Leonardo DiCaprio,

George Harrison,

Vladimir Putin,

Tom Cruise,

Hillary Clinton, and others to Visit Taj Mahal.

In the end I will share with you easy to visit Taj Mahal, so read till the end.

Let’s dive right in.

1.  Beauty

“The Taj Mahal rises above the banks of the river like a solitary tear suspended on the cheek of time.” - Rabindranath Tagore.

There are amazing monuments all around the world, you name it Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, Colosseum in Rome, Leaning Tower of Pisa  in Italy, the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

However, when it comes to the beauty - Taj Mahal comes on the Top.

Tourists visit from all across the world to admire its sheer beauty.

The Backdrop of river yamuna makes for an amazing view from a distance.

According to me, beauty is one of the most compelling factors to visit a monument.

2.  History

Legend has it that - Taj Mahal was built by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan to keep one of the four promises to Mumtaz Mahal, his most adorable wife when she was alive

The four promises were :

1)    To build the Taj Mahal, a mausoleum in her memory

2)    Shahjahan should marry again, after here death

3)    He remain kind to their progenies

4)    He regularly visit the tomb on her death anniversary.

Mumtaz mahal died after giving birth to her 14th child, due to medical complications.

The death of her was crushingly tragic for the emperor, and thus, grief, love, attachment for her wife laid the foundation stone to the monumental Taj Mahal.

That’s the very reason Taj Mahal is considered a “symbol of eternal love”.

It took 20 years to build the Taj Mahal. The construction started in the year 1632 and got completed in the year 1653.

When you hear the story right in front of the Taj Mahal from an informative guide, that makes you wonder about a lot of things.

In my view, the Taj Mahal is Taj Mahal because of its history. History is its soul.

3.  Architecture

Taj Mahal is amalgamation of multiple architecture style, that is Mughal, Persian, Turkish and Indian architecture at its very best.

Taj Mahal took inspiration from various Mughal buildings the most prominent being Humayun’s tomb, a precursor to the Taj Mahal.

One of the significant points to notice is that most of the mughal era buildings were made up of Red stone, where as the Taj Mahal was built using white marble.

Some of the most skilled artisans got involved for the fascinating  inlay work on the marble.

Overall, if you look at the Taj Mahal, what strikes you from the architecture point of view is the symmetry and harmony.

4.  Photography

There is a photographer in every one of us.

Most of us love to take selfies, isn’t it?

Taj Mahal is great point to take selfies and late share it on the social media earning many likes from friends.

That’s one of the aspects that we can readily relate to .

Professional photographers would simply love locations like Taj Mahal to bring out the most creative and beautiful photography.

Taj Mahal is one of the 7 wonders of the modern world is reason enough to visit it.

Moreover, it is also a UNESCO  world heritage site.
