Having your very own backyard garden can be a blessing. That nice patch of green that always brightens up your day is proven to be beneficial for your mental and physical health. Although, having to look at the same place every year can get a bit stale so it's good to mix things up. Infusing your garden with a breath of fresh air can be a welcomed sight and just what the doctor ordered for breaking the routine. It doesn't have to involve you breaking the bank or your back by doing so and, it can be a fun and engaging pastime. With just a little imagination and goodwill, you can completely change your favourite patch of nature to something completely new.
1. Plan out a new layout
There is so much cool stuff to do here. You can use various apps for garden planning and redesign it while you are sipping your favourite beverage. Just taking into account that different plants need a different amount of sunlight can be a factor for your new layout. Position the plants accordingly and watch them flourish. Also, a good tip on plant positioning is to place shorter or sprawling plants up front and the larger ones in the back. That way, the bigger plants want to dwarf and choke the smaller ones out and, every plant gets to shine.
2. Better space management
You may not have a big garden, but that doesn't mean you can have a wonderful one. Usually, walls are underutilized and, you can use them for lots of hanging type plants. The tiered layout of your potted plants on them can create a lush and green view. Or you can use various wall-crawling plants that will do the job for you. Placing old pallets for that rustic look and then decorating them with layers of flowers is also a good option. Or shelves if you have them where every tier of the shelf can be a different kind of plant.
3. Cleaning time
Even your home can feel like a new and fresh place when you tidy it up a bit. Without moving a single piece of furniture, but taking out the trash, dust and bringing in the sparkle can make all the difference. So, it makes sense to apply the same to your garden. Your garden walls or paths can be filled with dirt and dust due to weather. Making everything shining again is possible with a bit of elbow grease and time. Or you can opt for professional help by hiring brick cleaners to do the work for you while you focus on the more important things. Your garden has the glow hidden beneath all that mire and dirt and, you just have to help a bit and let it shine.
4. Add furniture and elements
You don't need to clog your garden and make it look like a hoarder’s heaven. A simple garden table with a few chairs in a secluded spot can make all the difference. You can also use it when your friends visit and hang out surrounded by nature. While you are at it, there is also an option to add a barbeque section or a fire pit. People can also gather around a fire pit as it can be a focus point, talk, drink, relax and grill.
Or, if water is more your element, simply get a fountain. Designs and options with them are nearly limitless. Just to be sure that we covered all the bases and, if you can’t be asked to deal with the hassle of installing anything, there is also an option to get statutes. This is an excellent way to express your inner artist and bring a touch of class to your garden.
5. Play with colours.
Speaking of being an artist colours can infuse anything with a breath of fresh air. Brightly coloured plants that spread across like a wonderful natural carpet can be a fun and nifty project. Combining, mixing and matching various plants for a visually appealing image can be a project for the whole family. Let your kids paint out their vision of a fun garden and, you might just be amazed at what they come up with. With a bit of adapting, it can be easy to bring their dreams to reality.
Out with the old and in with the new. Having something new to look forward to is motivation enough. While it will still be your garden, a fresh coat of paint (figuratively and literally) can make it seem like you are in an entirely different space. Keeping things fresh and interesting is a productive way to keep boredom at bay. After all, is said and done, all you have to do at the end is sit back, relax and toast yourself to a job well done. Until next time, when inspiration strikes again.
