There is a reason why it is called the city of love. When it comes to the list of beautiful cities, Paris might on the top. Paris and romance go hand-in-hand. Like wine is to steak and orange juice is to French toast, Paris is to love. Almost every couple that pilgrimage to the city of love posts pictures of themselves celebrating their love with the Eiffel Tower in the background. With dazzling illuminations’ radiance that covers the city in its surrounding like a full moon covers the top of a mountain, some of the most romantic moments are said to have been recorded in the atmosphere.

Men take their woman to Paris to propose to them and create a memory that will last a lifetime. Couples go to the city to celebrate their anniversaries, engagements and weddings. But why is it famously known as the city of love is what we will talk about today.

The City of Lights

The main reason why Paris is a romantic destination is that it is basically the City of Lights. Paris was from one of the first big cities to have gas lamps light up the streets at night to guide people to their homes. Since 1828, Champs Elysées has been bursting with bright lights. Imagine those bright lights shining on the beautiful monuments, museums and galleries made up of marble and gold delicate.

Breathtakingly beautiful sites

Paris is home to some of the most beautiful landmarks. From the Eiffel Tower, Montparnasse Tower, Louvre Museum, The Bridge of Arts, Notre-Dame de Paris, Arc de Triomphe to small places where you can just enjoy a lazy evening with your partner. Only a stroll through the romantic city with a partner hand-in-hand on the narrow streets of the city and taking in the scenery is probably the cheapest thrill out there.

The Romantic Language: French

The language of Parisians is probably the most romantic language in the world and is known as the expression of love. French people are genuinely not scared of expressing their love and “je t'aime” is a phrase you will catch quite a couple of times on the small and big streets of Paris.

Since the 4th century, Français has been the language recorded to have been translated the most. From small phrases of stating love and affection to beautiful poems, songs, books and scripts, the French language has had the reputation of a floral language. French songs are popular all over the word for their catchy and romantic way of expression and smooth accents.

Apart from the language, French art, music, and romantic cultural traditions have influenced and inspired almost every other language and culture. Though it is a really difficult language, Français rolls off a French tongue like music to ears. Even when French speak English, their heavy accent is to die for. Phrases such as mon chérie which means my dear and amour mio which means my love is the most spoken and searched expressions.

Gourmet Cuisine

One of the most special things about Paris is its gourmet cuisine. It is true that the quickest way to a person’s heart is through their stomach. The delicious food of France generates a good amount of love and romance in the air. French chefs are famous for their amazing mix and match that depicts the heritage, richness, and diversity of its cuisine thus why it is so popular.

Paris is a city known for candlelit romantic dinner dates and the traditional French recipes that have been passed from generation to generations. Among some of the famous romantic restaurants is the Jules Verne on the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower, La Tour d’Argent, whose famous not only for its meals but also the beautiful view over Paris from the left bank, La Maison Blanche or the famous Bateaux Mouche for beautiful cruise dinner. There is, after all, a reason why Bon Appétit is a French expression
