Three bodies were discovered in the East of Cleveland, said police - and a man is in custody in connection with the case.
"We are faced with a sick individual, and we have reason to believe that there could be more victims", East Cleveland mayor Gary Norton told CNN.
The three victims appear to be young black women, their decaying bodies wrapped in layers of plastic and sealed in place, according to the authorities. So far, the police was able to identify any of the victims.
Two bodies were found Saturday in the basement of one abandoned house, the other in a nearby field. The first victim was found Friday in a garage on the same block after the police received a call about a foul odor.
The first victim was found naked with indications of trauma, police said. The second victim was found bearing a green cap and the third wore a leopard print Leotard.
A car in the garage where the first victim was found investigators led to a suspect who was arrested after a clash with police.
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Michael Madison, was found guilty of attempted rape in 2001 and is a registered sex offender, the police said.
Norton believes that the murders occurred over a period of 10 days.
"One of the things that makes us believe that this is the same suspect is the way in which they were all wrapped... and even concealing each of the victims," he said.
According to Norton, Madison "Idol" and has been "influenced" by the serial killer Anthony Sowell.
Sowell was sentenced to death in 2011 for the murder of 11 women in Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
"Unfortunately, it is a sick person who seems to have been influenced by another sick individual" Norton said Alina Cho of CNN. "If it had been an hour more unclear what would have happened."
100 Volunteers make House to house "" to see is there is something else there that police officers need to know», at - it added. "
"We hope and pray so that no more [body]," said the Mayor.
No charge has yet been filed.
